Advantages of Linux

In this thread we discuss the advantages Linux has over Windows.

For instance in Linux you can't make files unusable by just renaming them.

Linux doesn't blue screen at boot, every single time, without fail.
what even is IRQL and why is it NOT OR LESS EQUAL all the time?

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Linux is a kernel, it doesn't have file rename dialogs.

not getting fucked in the ass by cianiggers

Updates actually work

Can you find me a Linux file manager that has an equivalent dialog to this one in Windows? If not then this is still a disadvantage of Windows.

>what even is IRQL and why is it NOT OR LESS EQUAL all the time?
It means you're a brainlet who can't overclock properly

but im at the stock clock.
and IRQL is still NOT OR LESS EQUAL.

If you weren't a brainlet, you would've made a connection easily what he's talking about.
Why GNU evangelists has IQ of 2 digits?

Underclock your CPU and see if the problem goes away.
If it does, your CPU is defective

He's a pirate/

Why do you think I am an evangelist just because I acknowledge that Linux is the name of the kernel?

still has the same issue.
I guess windows 10 just isnt compatible with the threadripper 1950x.

Because you are salty no one is mentioning GNU when they mention linux, when honestly there's no point in mentioning GNU to the same degree as LLVM or MESA.

Someone who uses GNU enough to mention it is likely to use a lot of GNU packages including gcc, instead of llvm.
Meanwhile OP's file manager probably runs just as well on Hurd and BSD, both of which are not Linux.

So you're being a pedantic fuck all the same, you aren't cute obviously pretending to be stupid to bully other people to use your pronouns.

Does Linux lack the ability to associate file type with application?

no. it just requires the user to set it up.
i never mess with xdg-open myself, but i could see where it'd be useful.

Ryzen 3000 doesn't have any "missing boost MHz" on Linux. It just works.

I haven't a clue what you're talking about. Linux is still a kernel.

I think kept getting this when I had any android phone plugged in. Can be bad drivers.

xdg-open. I never use it myself tho.

You're not stuck with a bricked system when Microsoft forces buggy new drivers (or anything) down your throat.
Fraction of the system requirements.
No telemetry and glow-in-the-darks.
No software and driver hunting on the web.
Unix.

>bad drivers
this happens in windows 10's install disc. on boot. never prompted for drivers. stock clock, threadripper 1950x.

>For instance in Linux you can't make files unusable by just renaming them.
i dont think it becomes unusable. if you change the file extension back i think it will work.

Renaming in general is superior on Linux, you need third party software like FastStone Image Viewer to rename files effectively in Windows with a simple 001 naming scheme, while in Linux you can do it with a right click and it's 10x faster too.

Other than that, Linux is garbage and only used by Indians and other third worlders who are in full cope mode.

but it might, says so right in the dialog box

I remember having a similar issue but with VMs a year ago, the install media would always bluescreen with EPYC instruction sets, I had to restrict it to haswell. That install media is not too old?

Linux is a kernel. You probably meant GNU/Linux.

obviously you know what is being discussed even if someone used wrong terminology. smart person knowing whats being discussed would do just that - discussed. instead you wet your pants over something beside the topic at hand. now my question is: what does it make you? if you think snart, think again.

>IT'S MAAAAAAAM
Holy shit, you freetards are the same as the tranny faggots you hate so much.

imagine trying for step to me only to find you are get rekt by me myfam you try to step and you get rekt you understand? my wholefam would step to you in one heartbeats and you would finding self in such a rekt that you are never recovering

>in linux
lmaoing at ur life

its just a message for a normies like (you)
even if you remove extension its still usable but might have to pick up software to open this file manually

I never thought i'd find someone this dumb on Jow Forums.

same myfam I am an oildfag (been lurking here for almost 2 weeks) and this is by far the most cringe post I've ever seen. would downvote if we had the option

Linux is a nice kernel for systems like GNU and Android, but you wouldn't want to compare it with a complete system like Windows.

this might be the most meta post ever made.

you mean GNU/Linux, user

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but have you tried Dolphin? It reminds me a lot of the file explorer and is pretty customizable.

go back to your containment board

>Can you find me a Linux file manager that has an equivalent dialog to this one in Windows?
Does this count?

File extensions dont really matter in Linux and most applications that are built well.

You probably mean GNU/Linux.

sure it might if you then try to open it with the corresponding program.
However i dont see how changing the filename changes the file data

No. That's just hiding it, you can still use it.

You can use a windows file with a changed extension, too.
