How does this make sense?
Say you have $100 and you keep it in your wallet as cash. A year later you'll still have the same $100 though it may buy less due to inflation.
Now say you put that $100 in a bank that charges $10 in negative interest over that year. By next year you'll have $90 and the same effects of inflation you'd have if you kept it in cash.
