I think that the value of a free software phone isn't necessarily the obvious benefits to individual privacy, which while that remains a benefit is secondary to the fact that encryption and other such obfuscation techniques are further distributed. If normies continue to adopt tin foil hat tier privacy then it'll become more difficult for an intelligence agency to differentiate politically significant individuals from the NPCs.

I don't think this will catch on though. It's got terrible specs (mitigated somewhat by not having android and google cancer bloating it all up) and the people who value privacy autistically already have burners/replicant.
