Common Lisp.

Fuck off, we're full

by writing code
in your text editor of choice

What is is the best first language to learn?

Most would say pick a book. In it there are some book exercises you should do those. In some cases your community college has classes and they have a lab packet do those prior to take the class

Start by asking yourself
"why do I want to program"
If the answer has anything to do with earning money
forget it, you'll never learn

C or Python
C because it's the only language you'll ever need and anything else is a downgrade
Python because the syntax is piss easy and you can focus on the logic which is all that matters

What about C++?

>only language you'll ever need and anything else is a downgrade
Only if you have all the time in the world.

based junji ito reader

learn c

I hate this thread but I ask you, whats your "goal"? What do you want to make?

are we making something? i'll do the logo

Nothing. I just want to learn another language.

a bot that detects people starting new projects

ngmi

>How do I learn to code/program? Where should I start?
By setting yourself a goal and working towards it, not too ambitious as you're just starting out.
So, what is your goal?

how would it detect new projects? also how lewd should the logo/mascot be

just string analyses 'create' 'new' or 'i' 'have' an' 'idea'
something like that

udemy.com/courses/development/ courses start at .99 cents and up. Enjoy!

oh so just scan from 4channel. i can make the logo for those new projects too

nah imma write an ai for generating project logos

why is it so hard for people to just pick a language and start making shit with it? whether it's C, Java, Python, Go, it doesn't matter. stop killing threads because you lack the motivation to do shit with your life and/or are too stupid to actually do it.

why? I started off making spam bots and automation for my business because I wanted to make money. That was 10 years ago and I ended up doing programming full time.

Write this:
#include
int main(){
printf("Hello world.");
return 0;
}

Start from the beginning.

if you write this you'll turn into a white pajeet for the rest of your life

it depends on what you want to do. if you just want to get employed and make retarded money just learn MERN stack web development.

Mongo Express React Redux Nodejs

Any retard can do web development why do you think there is so many women web developers? It takes no brains.

>Python
Don't listen to any advice this user gives.
Python is the worst language that is popular today, and is absolutely HORRIBLE to start with.
Dynamically Typed Languages are always shit difficult to grasp, and their code is always shit difficult to read.

Is it worse then Scala?

>Where should I start?
1. vars and basic operator and arithmetic
2. basic method usage like replace(),scope(),append() etc..
3. Boolean
4. if statements
5. arrays tuples and dict
6. while loops for loops
7. functions
8. class and OOP
9. regex
10. libs
11. any other shit like lambada recursive and whatever...

you can start by google C or python documentations.
watch some guides on youtube
or free websites like w3school or khan academy

Quit being an autist, pick a language, and start doing shit. This question continues to be asked because there is no correct answer. There is no best language, they're all wildly powerful and capable.

Azami is best girl.

>>python
>>difficult to read

Wow user.. i ...

pick a problem you want to solve and google until it is solved.

>2. basic method usage like replace(),scope(),append() etc..
JSfag fuck off

Man I want to learn to program only because I want to create a Hud like from halo or Metroid. That shit would be dope. I doubt it's possible though

how append is in javascript?

jQuery

be specific next time

It doesn't really matter. I'd say python, c, or javascript due to the crazy amount of resources for them.

I feel like is not a good idea to learn to program unless you actually like programming, like, you would do it for free.

This. Too many retards try to pick up programming for a month intending to get a job with their 1337 skills and then give up because surprise: doing a mentally taxing thing you dislike isn't enjoyable in the slightest. The "$80k/yr starting code monkey" meme is all but dead, people need to stop falling for it.

1. choose something in programing that interests you (security, ai, data processing, web scraping, games etc)

2. ask a non-google search engine what the best programming language for your interest is

3 load that programming language

4. start with a beginner tutorial

5 find out what fizz buzz is, build a fizz buzz program using stacks overflow and the knowledge you gained from the tutorial

6 build a program that solves Sudoku puzzles, this is an easy beginner project using stacks overflow and the knowledge you gained

congratulations, you are officially a drugasoft level programmer

I haven't tried Scala but I have heard it's pretty hard,

I picked up python pretty easily and most people say they have a similar experience with it, very easy, well documented, good tutorials and helps build good habits

start with this it'll teach you all the basics, next best thing to Drugasoft

automatetheboringstuff.com/

make sure you install python3 because python 2 is for trannies and pedos

Program a simple game.

>C because it's the only language you'll ever need and anything else is a downgrade
heh... nice joke

It's true. Most C++ "features" just make your code harder to read.

Listen to this post OP, that book is a godsend for beginners.

Learn c, once you know it all other Languages will be a piece of cake to learn

start with a stick and beat another dead horse
