First for Motorola

Although Nokia provide phones with inferior specs to chinks like Xiaomi, I'm glad they exist and provide quality stock Android updates.

>tfw no phone worth buying
>tfw only notches and a thousand cameras

If an app requires permissions enabled in order to even launch it, is it possible to deny it access to the phone and still use it?

Might depend on the app/ROM. Just try it and find out. If it breaks the app just re-enable the permission.

samsung note 9 is still king

this is now a sierra wireless thread

im gonna buy a phone to use as a tablet

Moto P30 Note or Asus 6

You mean Note 10+

With so many non-standardized ultrawide screens in modern phones it's getting very hard to measure and compare the screen sizes just by looking at the numbers.
So I made a little formula that lets you calculate the size of a 16:9 portion of an ultrawide phone screen.

x = width (px)
y = height (px)
S = screen size (in)

S*x*sqrt(337)/9/sqrt(x^2+y^2)

For example, the size of a 16:9 part of Nokia 7.1 screen (1080x2280, 5.84") is 5.1", and for Nokia 7.2 (1080x2280, 6.3") it's 5.5".

Why am I wasting my time on this? I don't know.

Attached: 44b1b23cead713cc694e9a44bdcafb75b42edf89_hq.jpg (699x601, 33K)

It's interesting. The problem is that the supra-16:9 parts are getting bigger to the point where approximation doesn't make sense.

I need a phone that supports lineageOS, small to medium form factor, and os reasonablly affordable.

Im currently using verizon but considering switch to sprint or something cheaper in the US.

Attached: marijuanainspace.png (750x420, 434K)

easier formula, just use the actual inches and throw all notch phones that inflates actual screen size with notches into the dumpster

If you apply this to Sony Xperia 5, the result will be 4.9", and it being marketed as a "compact" phone will start making a little more sense.
What doesn't make any sense - is the lack of a headphone jack, so the phone is still shit.

There are phones that don't have a notch, but still have a weird ultrawide aspect ratio.

i'm considering an oppo reno, but i also have the oneplus 7 pro in mind. should i wait it out until the OP7T/7TP come out to see if i can get a discount on the OP7P?

Just get the charity one.

>get asus phone
>Pie update comes out
>WARNING: UPDATING THIS DEVICE TO PIE WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE

Not even meme'ing pic related, fuck the shills that push these phones

Attached: pie.png (561x153, 11K)

Not with those bezels. I don't want someone thinking I have a google phone.

asus is notoriously bad at software/firmware updates, it's not surprising their update model is trash

you dun gooofed user

I dont want it to have access to my phone which is what it wants. For whatever reason when i deny this on a standard android, it wont launch it at all if i deny. Should I test on lineageos or would i get same results?

I just used a screen size calculator site, Christ a 5.5 16:9 is just as wide as a 6.5 21:9 these sizes mean nothing these days

>Upgrade to this firmware version, you need to using hardware reset before entering to the system.

Why do people shill this shit cellphone company

Damn you're smart. How do I get good at math like that? I always scraped through in school

I don't know how sketchy and/or important this app is for you that there isn't an alternative that doesn't make you uncomfortable running it.

I didn't get that message when I upgraded to Pie on my Max Pro M1

Are you suggesting it's a range update? The date in the screenshot doesn't make sense, how the fuck would an Android One phone receive Pie a year later?

Yeah because my phone is the max m1

The math there is pretty simple, it's Pythagorean equation and pretty much nothing else.

Fake update*

asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-Max-M1/HelpDesk_BIOS/
It's right there retards

You have no idea how bad I was at math in school. Thinking of picking it up now for fun since I hated and feared it as a clueless innocent kid. Good for the brain

Isn't that a full firmware that is intended to be used for a re-flash rather than an update?

Based

Nope it's to Pie, I have a trip coming up next month and need this phone for my backup as work/accounts require 2fa and don't want to be boned if my Note 7 bites the dust.

>what do you MEAN your plastic/polycarbonate/metal phone is more durable than my glass sandwich?!
>didn't you hear TechShill74 saying that lack of wireless charging is a big fat CON for modern phones?!
>what in the hecks name do you MEAN that wireless charging isn't really wireless?! its right there in the name! I just plug my wireless mount into the wall and lay my phone right on top of it wirelessly!
>I only use it overnight though because it isn't as fast as a real charger, and I cant lift it whatsoever from the mount :) but yup, its wireless trust me
>what do you MEAN theres NO good reason to remove the headphone jack?! dont you have disposable income! just get bluetooth!
>what do you MEAN you care about sound quality?!
>what do you MEAN that you could get a good phone that serves all of your purposes for half of what I paid for mine?!
>what do you MEAN that your cheaper phone has more usable features than my flagship and performs exactly the same to the naked eye despite the specs and benchmarks being smaller numbers?!?!
>disposable income disposable income DISPOSABLE INCOME

Attached: 1567068649220.png (785x1000, 254K)

>If my Noye 7 bites the dust?
A Redmi Note 7? Samsung Note 7?
Why do you care so much if you have another phone?

Oh man, I love how you're just going to show up and just throw that shit green text in the next few threads. The same exact one. Every single time.

So Nokia 7.2 is using old chipset, is it still worth a buy or just buy xiaomi mi a3 if I want a midrange stock android?

A3 if you don't mind how shitty an oled 720p looks.

just stop being poor
you're being pathetic rn

Its a stupid card simulator 3rd party app made by some chink that requires use of phone contacts for whatever reason. Im just going to dump it and forget about it

>>what do you MEAN that you could get a good phone that serves all of your purposes for half of what I paid for mine?!

Attached: 1563690571381.gif (570x537, 58K)

Redmi Note 7
>Why do you care so much if you have another phone?
As explained, everything for work requires 2FA I need a backup phone incase one up and fucks up for whatever reason as it has happened. Not to mention some countries don't support X band or Asus phone has band support for other things the Note7 doesn't.

Also for personal use I'd rather not take my 7 out and about for a night of drinking to the bar with my work phone or go hiking around some woods and riviers with it. Not uncommon to have 2 phones when traveling like this, most other IT people I know have 2 phones

cope

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BLADE RUNNER?

Attached: 2014-Voodoo-Music-Arts-Experience-Day-2.jpg (615x438, 35K)

Can't you make a local backup on a PC before the update? Can't imagine it taking more than a couple of minutes with a good USB cable.

nobody really cares about the price to feature ratio of their phone as much as you because most people aren't as broke as you

>rich people waste money
>broke people spend efficiently
user....

Not really the point, it's fucking stupid other devices can jump versions without needing a reset or other BS while asus does.

>back shit up stored local
>relogin to google pull down prior apps
>have to go back set up
>reload all files back onto device that weren't on SD card
>have to go back reset configs and settings for nova and shit
vs other phones
>andriod 8.1->9
>charge and update
>go

Well, yeah, it's fucking retarded.

The thing that you don't seem to understand is that when you're not broke, you don't care if you're glass phone is less durable than a plastic one, cause it feels better, looks better, and you're not broke so you don't give a fuck for how long it'll last, you'll buy another one in a few months anyway.
like really, just stop being poor and live your life

the thing that you don't understand is thats a waste of money and there are objectively better options
calling me poor is a defense mechanism so you dont need to face your poor money management

>feels better
>looks better
>behind a case
say what you want but think things through a little next time

Because you're taking advice from poor people who buy one product and then change their entire personality to orbit that product and justify its acquisition. Haven't you seen the AMD threads?

Am I in charge of the market? I don't give a shit, I'll just use what I like and keep it until it shits itself. Arguing about features and design is useless. It won't change a thing

nobody was trying to change your mind. merely commenting on an imageboard.
carry on

the thing is that nobody cares
really
it's pathetic how you are so involved in this, when in fact, nobody fucking cares
you could go and argue with a Note 10+ 5G buyer that there's phones that are cheaper and as feature rich, but im scared he'll be too busy using samsung pay on his S10+ to give a fuck

really, you have to understand that you're taking this way more seriously than anyone else and seen from the outside its pathetic af

It's just a phone, people will just blast 800$ on it and not think twice about it until a year is up and it's time to upgrade

There might be a better value in a cheaper phone, but, i know it might shock you, most people that aren't broke can afford to go past value, and buy what they actually want, no matter if there's better value.

What the fuck? Did they get rid of Randomized MAC address on Android 10 for the 3XL? I can't find the option anywhere now.

Why the hell would they get rid of that?

sure smells like incel in here

Asus good company yes.phone reset needed because ensure quality. also a good thing to reset regularl as erase virus for better performance improvement.

its still bad budgeting, and "reee you're just poor" is a defense mechanism. admit that its bad budgeting but you dont care, dont act like your decision was better or equally as good just because it cost more

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

That's because their phones are part of Android One. Any Android One phone gets fast updates.

>andrido one when 10 is out
Why do people buy chinkshit

Yeah, I know that. The word 'quality' refers to how the Mi A lineup is better when it comes to specs, but is treated like shit by Xiaomi. Some of their updates had to be pulled back because they bricked the phones

Currently still using a Galaxy S4 on Android 4/Kit Kat; is there anything that will give me the aesthetic of pic related yet? Hate all the flat garbage with bright colors that's been pushed the past few years

Attached: Screenshot_2019-09-05-20-06-21.png (1080x1920, 211K)

people talk about notches but this is the biggest meme in current year

literally no pros except for looking cool

Attached: w1_575px.jpg (678x344, 28K)

Hey guys I have boost mobil and I need a new phone as my Zte Warp Elite is about to be dead. I was looking to pay less than 200 dollars, and I wanted to order on Amazon. Any recommendations? Is the LG stylo 4 any good?

>finally give up on new sony phones. theyre shit.
>decide to buy and old xz2c on ebay.
>theyre completely sold out accross board.

just fuck my shit up senpai. any decent compacts besides the s10e and pixel 3

hey lads, just got a redmi note7, what ROM do i want on it?

correction, do i want to stick with MIUI10 or move to something like Pixel experience?

i have pixel experience its aight i kind of miss stock tho. all aosp builda have issues

I keep stock, just side loaded gcam in worked fine. I may trade off but see no reason to after using nova launcher to clear some clutter

Blackberry OS 10
iOS 6
Symbian Belle
Sailfish OS
MeeGo OS

xiaomi mi a2 lite? y/n

bump

Not when the Redmi Note 7 exists and is superior in pretty much every single way for the same cost.

Source: Bought both as my Mi A2 got lost in luggage shit happenings with a hotel/airport

Fair enough. thanks

Pixel 4 seem like it's going to be a worthwhile upgrade from first Pixel? My shit is finally starting to show it's age

It just doesnt work with boost mobil :(

Thanks, I'll give these a look. Wouldn't iOS be the same flat trash though?

Way to copy Motorola

What modern phone is the closest equivalent of a K10000?

Yeah it does, it has the correct bands where are you getting that info from

what's a good chink phone to use on verizon? piece of shit lg g6 keeps giving me the moisture detected in charging port message and it never goes away. budget is $300

Attached: jeffrey.jpg (720x960, 143K)

It literally says it doesnt on the website

My Redmi 7A is not compatible with metroPCS but it works, the only thing is meaning not working often means not tested yet or not all bands

Boost works on 850,1900, 2500, RN7 has those bands supported
amazon.com/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-Snapdragon-Black/dp/B07PY52GVP
frequencycheck.com/carriers/boost-mobile-united-states

What website are you using
>inb4 gishan

shieet wrong reply person how the fuck did I do that

If priced fairly, would the G8X be a good phone? Seems like LG's starting to get shit right with their flagships

So youre saying the rn7 would actually work with boost mobile? Like they'd let me use my service with them for that phone?

All phones will look like that in two years

are there any alternatives to redmi note 7 in the same price range?

Why cant you just buy that?

It supports the bands, so I don't see why it wouldn't work as a CDMA device on a CDMA network. My RN7 doesn't "work with google" officially, but works fine. It's just not tested fully, though Mi A2 lite is fully supported and has the same bands available.

Tons but feature wise not many unless you want to roll the dice with Asus software or weird haweui shit. Guess motorola has some of the G7's on same from time to time but eh. Samsungs phones for the 160-175 mark the RN7 is at kinda fall short either in battery, screen, or camera

thanks.
does ali or chinkland have any upcoming sale around this month?

If you don't want to chance it don't, might work fine just not all 4G bands. If you don't want to risk it then go to ghettoville boost and get one of their promo phones

Galaxy J7 I think is what will work or an LG Stylo, both around 90 bucks right now on amazon

Knowing the value of your dollar doesn't mean you're broke. There's a reason why a lot of truly rich people are cheap as fuck.

If you are on a budget look for this
gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_j7_(2018)-9234.php

Boost sells them so it's going to for sure work just keep in mind the model numbers, the only real shit thing about it is the ram is only 2GB so gaming could be meh. If all you do is web browsing, discord, photos, text, and some light games should be fine. No clue what your current is so hard to compare performance boosts

amazon.com/Mobile-fingerprint-Android-Prepaid-Carrier/dp/B07DXPLJB2/

Seriously fucking change carriers to something like Google Fi or some of T mobiles cheapo options

is phone compatibility on an MVNO necessarily the same as its parent company?
