I'm not autistic.
We want to block ads
No proper bookmark manager or a way to import them (last time I checked)
What do you mean by a "proper" bookmark manager?
You can bookmark a web page at a key press and it stores it in a plain text file.
Much more portable and nicer than whatever format other browsers use.
The hosts based ad blocker works fine for me.
There's also this
gitlab.com
gitlab.com
Although I haven't tried it yet.
I would if it was IceCat.
IceCat isn't as fast or as comfy as qutebrowser.
Well for starters, at least a way to organize them in folders, which I could then use to open multiple bookmarks simultaneously. Wouldn't be against some layout options either, because stacked rows of plain links aren't exactly a joy to navigate
it has no proprietary javascript magic to reach near-C levels of speed.
It's as fast as Chrome.
It doesn't have uMatrix
it forced me to create a swapfile as its python+chromium. also its to bare and slow.
He also has a uMatrix-like extension called jmatrix which I use, didn't realize he had any other stuff out there.
That's not even acknowledged as functional by its own creator
fingerprinting
>to bare
We can agree to disagree on that.
>slow
How is it slow?
It's literally chromium in the backend.
This is its only real flaw in my opinion.
Hopefully we'll get some more fingerpriting protection in the future.
It's fully functional and it's being linked regularly in their IRC channel by both its creator and others.
its literally python garbage thats 10 times slower than javascript
The python code has nothing to do with web rendering.
Rendering is done solely by QtWebEngine.
Maybe the reason you remember it being slow is because it was using QtWebKit the time you last tried it.
>the time you last tried it
the last time you tried it*
>no cosmetic filtering
Enjoy your blank squares
it wasnt long ago, it had webengine.
it just feels like an incomplete and slow browser.
config and keyboard input was great but not enough to keep using it.
Nah, I'll keep using uBO.
I don't know why it felt slow to you but it can't be any slower than chromium.
>python + chromium isnt slower than chromium
alright user, keep coping.
firefox is miles better and respects your resources
No reason in particular. Transmission is good enough for what I need
You're missing out on comfyness the likes of which you can only dream of.
>python + chromium isnt slower than chromium
It isn't, because as I've stated, pything has nothing to do with web rendering.
>firefox is miles better
What's better about it?
It's slow, clunky, at times unresponsive, the interface is a pure mess.
Not to mention you never know when Mozilla's gonna screw you in one way or another.
>respects your resources
No modern browser respects your resources.
i like opera
botnet
huh?
We are.
I don't say this often, but: cringe.

Okay.
Because Next Browser exists.
I would use qutebrowser if it used gecko web renderer rather than the chromium one.
Why? They're both bloated trash in all honesty, but blink is much better optimized.
Gecko conforms to HTML5 better.
because I fucking hate qtwebengine. luakit is much better imo because configuration is though text files and it uses gtkwebkit. luakit it's literally surf but with features that actually make it usable for daily use
because i'm not qute ;-;
>I fucking hate qtwebengine
qtwebengine is actually usable, unlike webkit.
luakit is pretty nice honestly, byt webkit is hot garbage.
It's horrendously slow and doesn't support the latest web bloat.
It can't even play youtube videos.
>configuration is though text files
It's done through text files on qutebrowser as well.
webkit runs perfectly fine for me and all websites render correctly. you need the libav gstreamer plugin to play youtube videos though admittedly I couldn't get twitch to work but I might be missing something. also I feel retarded for saying qutebrowser doesn't have any text files.
Optimizing web browsing would kill my productivity.
Pentadactyl is still the supreme Vim-like web browser UX and you can use it alongside uMatrix and uBlock too.
I do use it, but as soon as another similar browser shows up with actual ad blocking, I'll switch to it in a heartbeat.
Not nearly good enough.
>WebKit
Lol webkit is fucking ass made of spaghetti code and had major security comprising bugs.
Qutebrowser uses QtWebEngine (Chromium), though.
>Why isn't Jow Forums using qutebrowser?
Because Jow Forums doesn't see the need to learn any new keybindings beyond word-tier / arrow keys..
>Why isn't Jow Forums using qutebrowser?
B-but I am
B-but i am..
Tried it, it seems to be equally shit as chromium so I don't see a reason to use it.
gtkwebkit is outdated compared qtwebengine
No support for OpenBSD yet (I know that it works with qtwebkit, but only with its very ancient versions, so it's insecure af)
there seems to be support for NetBSD and other BSD's
maybe it's possible to get it to run on OpenBSD as well
Why are you here?
Why do I need to use a keyboard navigation based browser when I have a mouse?
don't really see the point since Vimium-FF exits. I did try using it before and it seems fine but it lacks basic functionality that Firefox has had for a decade.
So you don't have to move your hand all the way to the mouse.
How do I click links then? Just mash tab until I've highlighted the one I want to go to?
press the link follow mode key ("f" last time I used it), which highlights all links on the page with a series of keystrokes and then you press the key combo of the link you want.
The key combo doesn't go from 1 to 100 or a to z but from most convenient to type to slightly less convenient. For example ffa or ggf
I think an older vim-like browser had numbered links once, but when I first used the method described above, I was positively surprised. It's really fast and convenient.
I see 0 benefit to switch to it
I use Qutebrowser but I will admit it has some usability flaws. The lack of Ublock is a major issue, but I don't browse sites that give my computer Hep-C. I muddle along using a Pi-hole instance on my server to block most of the ads. Being able to pipe links to programs like mpv is amazing, I heard Firefox has vim-key addons but I do not believe these can be piped directly to programs.
Image grabbed from a youtube video
it's much comfier
also, much more efficient
>Vimium-FF exits
and if it wasn't shit I wouldn't be using qutebrowser
there isn't a single vimperator-like extension that makes nu firefox usable
hints
Seems comfortable if you're using a laptop, I'll stick with FF ESR on desktop though. Thanks for showing me that.
Ungoogled Chromium is the best. Sorry firefags, but your browser, while cool looking, has a heavy overhead.
I've been using it for awhile and so far ad blocking on youtube and mouse gestures are what i miss more
