Stallman: Microsoft is a great company

RMS has sold out:
>spoke at Microsoft office
>said he read Nadella's book ('hit refresh')
>GNU creator said that Microsoft, a FSF and GNU enemy, is a great company
theregister.co.uk/2019/09/05/richard_stallman_microsoft/

What do you think, /gee/?

"Satya's book made me realize Microsoft is a great company...if you ignore what they are doing to the freedom of users...unfortunately this is very important"

"Microsoft isn't evil, they just make really crappy operating systems."

Even your hero has turned on you.

The Jew has revealed himself

>moot

you’re not funny

What does Linus know about making operating systems?
Also, they ARE evil. If Torvalds actually cared about freedom instead of ""open source"" he would realize that.

>doesn't own website
>opinions somehow matter

But I didn't tell a joke?

We knew he only cared about lining his pockets for supposed "freedom" when he said no to Donald Trump.

he said yes

>Microsoft software engineer Pedro Paulo described the presentation as consistent with Stallman's philosophy for the past 30 years, and noted that he had a few requests for the company, such as pushing GitHub to make developers more aware of software license compliance, encouraging hardware vendors to publish kit specs and making it easier to bypass Secure Boot. :registered:
Wow, it's fucking nothing. Stallman just spoke about software freedom in MS HQ.

Microsoft is the final honest tech company in the age of Google and Facebook. They develop real tech instead of cancer and statistic big data

must be why windows 10 is an abomination

this has something to do with pajeets being simultaneously fans of rms and microsoft

You can call him pajeet but his strategy basically saved Microsoft. Can't say the same about the one at Google.

>enemy
They're not enemies, they aim for different niches of the market.

Nah that's true for most open source people but as for RMS he's literally vehemently ideologically opposed to non-free software, it's not a market difference for him.

nope. balmer got canned for no real reason

Evidently he's not (anymore)? Old man finally realised he won't live forever and 2% market share and decreasing ain't gonna cut it.

He is still as ideological as ever, OP just left out key stuff.

moot is the creator of Linux

Fake news

Autism is one hell of a disorder.

>key stuff
no profit-based company can be great in terms of Free Software, it is by default evil and obviously pursues profit, not freedom. Even non-profit companies like Mozilla are massive fags who try to catch you up with hidden telemetry and other botnet stuff.

money = programmers
If it werent for big corporations donating their programmers to free software (and paying them), we wouldn't have GNU or Linux, or some BSDs.

>if you ignore what they are doing to the freedom of users
So Jow Forums is lying again, what a surprise.

>no profit-based company can be great in terms of Free Software,
Why?

Is there video of the speech?

>why
can you read more than 10 words per line?

Isn't Microsoft getting interested in Gnu and Linux stuff? I heard W10 has some built-in dual boot thing with Ubuntu I believe. I suppose it's a step in the right direction

Free software means freedom, not price. Denying the ability to profit is against the license.

They want to provide just enough functionality to get people to stop using Linux.
