just pick anything you want from 1999 or earlier

Get an ISA sound card if you want to play DOS games. Do NOT install 2k if you want to game, get 98SE or if you dont care about booting to DOS, ME instead.
Any early 3d games from 1998 and before should run well

windows ME

most of the computers produced around this time where more than capable of playing games that where being produced and or the games where produced with limited specs in mind.

sounds great but what would you recommend

the computer is a dell optiplex G1

doom
doom2
hexen
quake
quake 2
monster truck madness
extreme 4x4 racing
road rash

my Pentium IIs all run NT 4 and I mostly just play half life and quake on them

I have an .exe of Tetris that may work on it, but if you're not going to invite Warez from the Chans, you can pick up a big-box version.

Age of Empires. Thousands of hours of wololo.

StarCraft
Mechwarrior 2
Septerra Core

can't you just install 32 bit windows to play all these games

is it from the ms entertainment pack?

windows 98 is 32bit

This? You can play it in your browser now
archive.org/details/TETRIS_201612

so can't you run all of these games even on a modern windows 7/10 64 bit machine?

emulators are shit I prefer the Real deal

there was also a tetris clone called Nyet it was
for dos

>not running Encyclopedia Britannica 1997 edition

I prefer to use real hardware because it's sometimes a pain in the ass to do it with modern windows, even a VM (no Direct3D)

Pretty much this

Most of them work better on WINE than Win10 these days.

also a side note how do I get 144Hz to work on video card (144Hz lcd 1080P) it also won't goto 1080p

chips challange works on 64bit linux but not windows

microsoft was too lazy to include ntvdm in 64BIt it's so stupid

You don't. Get an old monitor.

I guess I could grab my CRT

it's a samsung syncmaster 950P (it's a fucking good monitor)

i was talking about native 32 bit programs. i wasn't sure if something like starcraft was 32 bit or 16 bit but if it's 32 bit the release version should still run on 64 bit windows. dx7 programs still work on windows 10 64 bit...

It might work in winewdm

also how do I get half life to work if I don't have the original release (I have the steam version)

this nigga for real how do you facebook tier fucks even find this place

Half life

Used to have a PII 333 and 64MB of RAM with a 32MB S3 Savage. I remember clearly being able to play:

Warzone 2100
FF7/FF8
Thief I/II
Unreal Tournament 99
AOE2
StarCraft
Black & White
The Sims
Encarta 95 MindMaze

Would be comical to see a SATA to IDE connector hooked up to an SSD on Windows 98 with 512MB of RAM.

just run hl.exe or whatever it's called

MDK

the steam version requires steam to be running

druaga1 is that you

Adding to this user's post:
Star Wars Ep1 Racer and the PC port of Extreme G II should run on a PII.
Also, Unreal Gold should run as well alongside Unreal Tournament. Just don't try online play with either one of them, the modern mods are VERY CPU and memory heavy compared to what those two were originally meant to run on.

Nope

Enjoy.

I don't know if open arena would work there, but I'm willing to bet it will

Freespace

THanks user! IM HAVING TONS OF FUN!!

I'll try it and let you know

your welcome

There's also a remake in Steam. It's really good.

Why do you retarded freetards lie thru your teeth just because you hate something?

you ether bought it on steam or your lying

Based

or you recompiled it

>windows 7
Kek, garbage.

- Half life
- Tribes
- Rainbow 6
- Aliens vs Predator
- StarCraft
- Total Annihilation
- Quake 2

at least it doesn't send data to advertisers

and doesn't use 2GB or ram just to start up with literally nothing extra

Not user but there's like half a dozen ways to run DOS and Win16 programs/games on Windows 10 that integrate transparently into the system and let you just run these things by double clicking on the program
Usually wine based or just modified windows compatibility layer, Windows 10 does have a pretty good compatibility layer by default too but I'm pretty sure it can't do DOS and Win16, only Win32

Shogo

Neither does Windows 10. Easily usable on a system with only 2GB RAM for basic usage, Enterprise and LTSC versions have strict telemetry options that are user configurable (and come with less shit bundled than Windows 7 even, specially LTSC N, no Cortana, nothing, while still having the option to manually install store programs).
Windows 7 (even Enterprise) is probably a higher security risk in many, including telemetry, not to mention being based on the half broken Vista codebase.

I can understand freetards and itoddlers (and using the tool for the job), but the Windows 7 fanboy is literally the most retarded creature on this chaotic blue marble.

100GB DOS games

have fun with the forced updates

Is this bait? You do realize you can disable *any* updates at all? These days even on normal consumer Windows 10 versions.
Doesn't matter what Windows version you use, you always install only security updates and manually, you can do a update script to directly fetch them from the Microsoft repo, this was even true turning the Windows 7 highday.

Enjoy this (You), friend.

Diablo 1/2, Simcity 2k / 3k, Unreal Tournament, most of the Dark Forces series, Stepmania 3

anything I-III should be fine with exception to some 2000/01 games

Are you blind? Look under 1998, the original windowed box came with different styles.
Zoomers, I swear.

Attached: Unreal3DFront_03.jpg (209x250, 22K)

Why don't you want Windows 2000 for games? I was considering installing it on a dual slot 1 system.

fuck I looked like 3 times. Couldn't remember exactly when it came out.
>zoomer
I bought a boxed copy in walmart after it released and even then I was older than 3/4 of this board

I wanted to win that so bad. Remember the ad for miscellaneous anime merch too? I had no idea what I was looking at, but it was really cool looking stuff. I think there were evangelion and MegaMan x figures.

>I bought a boxed copy in walmart after it released and even then I was older than 3/4 of this board
I was just fucking with you. I was sure you did.

Super Mario 64 in Corn
Grand Theft Auto 2

2K runs Windows games perfectly fine. The DOS emulation may be questionable unless the system specs are significantly above what the game normally requires.

>Pentium II
>not a Mendocino Celeron with on-die cache and a 60% overclock

I still would have taken a PII 450 over a Celery 300@500.

Warcraft 2 nigga wtf are you doing not playing that fucking shit right fucking now?!

oh and Liero, you can play Liero but you need friends for Liero

RetroArch has supposedly been ported to Windows 98/2000

Video games are for children.

maybe you'll grow up someday too

Homeworld
Homeworld: cataclysm
Team Fortress classic
Worms 2
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Quake 2
GL quake
Unreal
Unreal : Return to na pali
Freespace / Freespace 2

There's more overhead with 2k. But if you're using a dual cpu system it will be better, since 9x can use only one cpu

System shock 2
Half Life
Diablo
Unreal

Can't go wrong with the list of solid 90s PC games.

just get a xeon and have the best of all worlds nigga

Black & white fuck yes. I need to play that again. It's been so long.

>Sacrificing villagers to get more belief so I can maintain the shield protecting the town.
>Realise that sacrificing children gets you way more belief.
>Turn everybody into breeders, making babies while worshiping me so I can throw the children directly into the sacrifice pit

Good times.

Is that pound of copper for a heat sink?

Iirc I played:
Diablo 1&2+lod
Gangster: Organized Crime
StarCraft
Commander&Conquer series
Warcraft 1, 2, and 3+ expansions
Hitman
Throne of Darkness
Sierra games like *Quest/Quest For Glory
Lucas interactive monkey island
Need for Speed
Beem! PS emulator
Elder Scrolls possibly morrowind
Damn. Remembering makes me want to do a nostalgia win98 build.

>Stronghold Crusader
I still remember the voices

Haha is that a processor dude?

It's a processor and some cache on a card

> what games will run on it????
The best out there. OC it to 700MHz and upgrade your card to, say, Geforce 6200. Then fire up Windows 98 and go to .

nascar racing 1999 edition

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.com.png (640x480, 45K)

Interstate '82
Driver
Viper Racing

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.com.jpg (640x480, 57K)

>Viper Racing
Based

i'm kinda surprising myself how many driving games i played around that time
viper racing was good fun, though less for the racing part (i assume you know what i mean)

It's a Dell Optiplex GXa?

Many later games will also work, especially non-3D ones like
>Diablo 2
>C&C Red Alert 2
>Baldur's Gate 2
Also Deus Ex might work but just barely playable on lowest settings, it really needs at least a PIII for smooth gameplay

If this computer is what said then it already should have a builtin ISA bus sound card (Crystal Semiconductors).

>Super Mario 64 in Corn
>literally the hackiest N64 emulator which basically runs only this one game in a playable manner
why

*wolololoo*
Aaaand there goes my army. Damn I hated that sound.
Great game.

>60 inch monitor
