He's right. I work at AWS and all the dev work happens on Linux EC2 instances or Docker containers, except for developing things on and for Windows/iShit. The EC2 instances replaced physical Linux desktops. Developers can request Ubuntu laptops as well. Macs are mostly used as "Unix laptops that can run MS Office and Acrobat", but that's increasingly less valuable as we shift away from MS Office formats and Linux gets good native PDF editors (PDF Studio, Master PDF Editor).
