Help with what? They don't have serious range.
You can't get on the highway with these things for obvious reasons, and that immediately shuts them out of a lot of practical scenarios like a real commute. The idea of a walkable/mass transit commute is still a fantasy even in mid-sized cities.
There is no storage. You can't go shopping with these things and I wouldn't want to mount them with a bag of groceries.

Scooters make sense in urban areas when you don't want to use a car but also don't want to walk. Bikes are just as impractical at times but when you want to get somewhere with very little work scooters make sense. If you dont live in a dense city without public transportation, scooters are trash.

I don't think they solve the problem you suggested, I've only seen them in the center of small city's or everywhere in the big ones, but thats exactly where some level of busing exists

I don't think these will ever reach suburbia or ghettos, car will continue to be the thing america was designed around

nobody is suggesting that they replace any other mode of transportation, they are simply another option
