250k jobs are not the norm though. And while CS gets paid more in the States you also have to work more and be under stress more, have less consumer and employee protections, etc. Especially on the west coast people are leaving the cities in droves. Combine this with the fact that CS development can absolutely be outsourced more easily than other jobs (and again, no employee protections) and why won't companies just outsource to elsewhere where they don't have to pay as much? And I'm not just talking about India, even in the midwest they could only pay 100k for the 250k job on the west coast and that 100k has more purchasing power.
