Just started at a top 10 university majoring in computer science. Mandatory is programming (in Java). I've done some coding before, but any tips, recommendations, etc? How do you self-teach?

absolute fucking retard
I would tell you to go kill yourself, but while programming in Java you will get to the point of being suicidal soon enough.
To learn Java, read
Oracle Tutorial (docs.oracle.com
Effective Java
But you should concentrate more on data structures and algorithms. Read your textbook.
Java != JavaScript

Java is quite easy once you know the basics. Just work on tiny projects to understand specific things better

I'm new to this

Thanks, I'll definitely check these out.
thx
Just quit while you can. You'll never be good enough
>will check out durgasoft
are you being serious, faggot?

Give it a try. The course goes deep, the coding problems are complicated and it's free.
So far I haven't had any trouble with it. It's a little different from the other stuff I've used, but I've had some practice making a discord bot before and the general process for learning code. If I could choose another language, however, I definitely would.
Followup then, what language would you all suggest I learn next?
just insert a massive dildo in your anus and when trying to program, just do what feels natural to you
congrats, you are now writing classic java code
...
Thanks, I appreciate it.
I've been out of the loop for a while, especially in the tech community. Haven't used Discord in ages and I'm just coming back to Jow Forums today. Was finally getting sick of all the leddit bullshit.
B&R
Will these help too?
programming socks are similar to gloves for weightlifting;
they automatically make everything better
I nearly forgot I actually have tights. And crossdress. Actually sounding hella comfy right about now.
seems like you are on an excellent path to become a great programmer
Durgasoft
Stolen.
Just read the textbook. The one for my course was good. Also play around with JShell.
If i come from the world of Javascript (intermediate knowledge), how fast can I learn Java without resorting to the weapon of Durgasoft ofcourse...
I'll check it out. Feels like the textbook works better than the class honestly. I just need some motivation to start coding something. Like my own project I guess.
que?
So far they've given me these:
hi.hyperskill.org
docs.oracle.com
In addition to JShell and my textbook. I would say for advanced projects, look stuff up on Google or StackExchange to find out how to do specific tasks, but general learning becomes too broad for advanced, specialized knowledge.

You should stick to leddit pal
