Everyone uses Google, so when they search Google it's shilled to them. Also it's a pretty good browser, despite Google's attempts to neuter it. When they finally stop adblocking extensions from working that might cause some to switch over to Firefox, which I've already done.

The main reason why I switched to chrome is because Firefox always seemed to be going really slow and taking up tons of CPU. I couldn’t figure out why so I just used chrome which seemed more stable.

Chrome, ever since it was introduced, has led the way in terms of speed and standards-compliance. That sounds like marketing bullshit I'm saying but it's not. Sometimes some other browser might be slightly better in one single benchmark, but usually Chrome will catch up and overtake it. Chrome is just the best browser, it's that simple. If there was something better then I would use it. But there isn't.

Firefox is LITERAL GARBAGE. Look at pic related. This STILL happens on Mac. Firefox just doesn't render select boxes properly and puts some 1995 bevelled grey button on there. Also, Firefox doesn't render BBC News pages properly - it loads the mobile layout, before switching to the desktop layout. This is not the correct way to handle media queries and responsive layouts. All other browsers I've used (Safari, Chromium-based browsers) process the whole CSS and then render the page in the right layout for the viewport width.

Because at first, it was truly the best browser you could get your hands on. It was free, innovative and ran well on even the shittiest hardware.

I like the interface and it is very reliable, the only other browser I would consider giving a chance if Firefox but it is always slower for me despite people saying its faster and I always run into issues with audio/video playback or something I never run into with Chrome. Its always something with Firefox. My only issue with Chrome is how heavy it is and small features like bookmark management, and wish Firefox was actually good.
