Deep Web

Not a fan of e-celeb bullshit, but these videos keep showing up in my feed for some reason and I was wondering about the deep web. Is there really that much that's interesting? I figured it was just a hub for illegal porn and drugs, I didn't expect there to be anything neat. Is it actually worth browsing, and do I need lots of security if I don't plan on viewing anything illegal, or can I "happen" upon it? How do you even surf the "deep web", or, is there a censored (more safe for work) repository?

Just blows my mind someone has hundreds of videos, most seemingly 30 minutes or longer about browsing the deep web. Just seems kinda exciting, but I don't feel like running into illegal shit so does Jow Forums know how to avoid that?
Do I just grab vmware or virtualbox, install some basic distro and go to town with TOR, or what other precautions should I take?

General deep-web/darknet browsing (If those are the same thing). Educate an idiot, please.

Bump...?
Can OP even bump his own threads nowadays?

don't poke your nose there if you don't have a at least cyber security bachelor degree.

it's just crypto scams and spam
"deep web" is a buzzword to frighten elderly boomers who think the internet is a tool of the dark lord satan just like pokemons

that sounds pretty accurate, so what is this guy making videos on? I'm not really interested in watching them, but the substance seems to be there. The one I did view was pretty interesting.
I have a degree on mongolian basket weaving forums, does that count?

there's nothing interesting you can't find on google. and the bits that aren't honeypots or """ak blueprints""" you won't find with tor. you'll have better luck with fb massager or, no joke, tinder.

ak blueprints? huh?
Seems weird that the guy has something over 200 episodes then, but someone on /b/ explained to me there's a difference between the deepweb and the darkweb, and he's probably just browsing the deepweb, i.e not using tor, just searching up weird unvisited websites.

>t. college shill
no need for that bullshit

When did this board get so full of absolute noobs? Where did 8ch /tech/ move to?

>allowed blueprints
Better off browsing Jow Forums if you wanted an infographic.

I'll admit, I'm not very educated and probably pretty stupid in all considerations, but I like to think that learning is something I only have to do once, and that's a good enough sign of intelligence growing.

What in the

that sounds amazing and quite surreal. I'm fascinated by weird stuff and little mysteries, and the internet is one of the best places for the legitimate and illegitimate that someone can use.

most likely videos about reddit posts

that's a strong possibility

Use Whonix in a Virtual box VM. Your IP cannot leak because whonix doesnt know it. Everything is handled through the Whonix tor gateway so even Java Script exploits will never get your true IP. Even with root privileges your IP cannot be retrieved. Always keep whonix and the tor browser up to date, never login with real life credentials, dont maximize the tor browser window, dont structure sentences the way you do in real life if you type a message, and keep Java script off

Thanks! The only part I don't quite follow is the part of maximizing the browser window, but that all seems pretty clear. Are there any sort of reference sites to start someone out, or is it more-or-less just a hunt for .onion links? But that's all pretty clear, thank you. Whonix sounds quite interesting. Would you recommend using a VPN as well? If there's nothing illegal being browsed, I don't know why it'd be needed, but its a thought. In the case it was, would you be running the VPN on your main machine or the virtual instance?

>you'll have better luck with fb massager or, no joke, tinder.
Or baidu and yandex

Huh? Do you mean that's where this guy is finding his websites or something? I checked out a few more videos, skimming it, and he's gone to some weird blogs and tech related sites.

They can track you better if your browser isnt the default size. If you plan to use a VPN use it on the host and make sure its on whenver whonix gateway is running. Whonix will run 2 VMs that work together btw. Dark fail has all the links you'll need and archives have a bunch like here

archived.moe/b/search/text/onion/page/49/

That's a bit elaborate but very informative, so thank you again. I'll check that out and do some more research on it. You have my gratitude. I'll download Virtualbox, run Whonix in it, use my VPN on my main OS host and manage the rest. I'll check out that dark fail website. Thanks!

i watched some of his videos now, he's just showing off normal websites made by schizos and other "weird" troll sites without any obvious meanings. This has nothing to do with the deep web and he probably gets those links from some reddit sub or something.
There are a lot of websites for unusual fetishes that are only really known to the people who have them, but they likely wont be interesting to you if you discovered them by yourself.

If you actually want to use tor then be prepared for mostly boring crap, there really isn't much interesting stuff in there and most sites go offline days after they launch because nobody cares about them, not even the creators

That's a shame. I'll probably still give it a go, but as a long time /x/phile I've always wanted to find weird and interesting shit to explore, preferably without risk of falling into some random cave hole while out trekking. But thank you

Mutiahar is good shit you should look at his other vids

Make sure to enable javascript blocking for all websites in the tor browser in the noscript addon settings, by default js is allowed to run and could be a security issue

where can i watch livestream torturing and child sacrifice, you know, red room shit.

Neat, thanks. I'll make sure to do that.

Tor.madirc.net

nice try, fed

So you're saying that these kind of websites actually exist?! Interesting desu

no they don't
go to sleep

It's mutahar, he's great. The more recent episodes have been kinda trash, cause well, the deep web is a boring ass place. The older episodes have much better stuff. If you wanna try it yourself he has a video on what you need to do to protect yourself, make sure nothing happens. If you don't, just watch some of his older episodes

Haven't been there since 2012.
Is i2p still the best version of the "deep" internets?

Just browse chink sites which will give you an even more exotic experience.

im not going anywhere near asian shit
they freak me out man, japs, congs, thais, gooks
fuck man

link me up, bros

tell us more, user

kek

Nothing is real, For CP just brose Google indexed pages or youtube.

I'd rather not. I'm just going to stick to clearnet surfing and look for cool, weird websites. TOR seems defunct and kinda dead from what I've read.

Thank you for the replies and all that to this thread, all who did. You have my gratitude.

> tor is defunct and kinda dead
spoken like a true retard

>defunc and kinda dead
The absolute state of Jow Forums

One individual (me) is not Jow Forums.

Try Lain or Arisuchan

Muta makes videos about dumb shit on the deep web like christian dinosaurs and roman aliens

Most basic fact about the deep web is that it isn't found/searchable by search engines.
Go watch the videos and try to google sites which are shown in it. If you are able to find them, they weren't part of deep web in the first place.

>what is le dep wab xd
>i am ebin 4channer
Major yikes

Cirno chan (you know the name) has comfy tech threads

While you should keep the security slider set to high, I suggest not depending on a addon to block js, noscript has failed in the past when all firefox addons broke. type into your address bar
about:config
type javascript
double click javascript.enabled setting the value to false
restart the browser
