and?

LAGDroid BTFO

needs more cameras
I'll wait for the six camera model before buying.

>using sd cards for whatever in 2019

Those cameras look fucking ugly
Why did this company forget how to design good-looking devices after Jobs passed away?

If you read the Wall street journal, investors aren't happy with the price increases and lack of change in design, it's leading to a sales slump and longer time with a phone

Yeah the added storage is very convenient.

personally i'm a GNU/Linux phone type of a guy but whatever

Attached: heh.png (1577x886, 1001K)

I like how it looks compared to other multi camera phones.
What do you need 1tb storage on your fucking phone? I barely using that much even on my pc.

Attached: hello.jpg (345x251, 35K)

>using sd cards for whatever in 2019
Imagine having to use retarted dongle like this
Instead of small and inconspicuous sd card

This is true however this not a absolute must have in 2020. Most phones comes with decent size internal storage and everything has moved to streaming.

iPhone users are fucking pathetic, front and back synchronized video capture support is a big deal? That's been on Android for 5-6 years now

I use the storage for pirated movies and shit.

I'm just memeing. I'm using Android for 5 years now and have no wish to switch to memeOS. With android I have freedom.

>front and back synchronized video capture support is a big deal? That's been on Android for 5-6 years now
How?

Attached: derp.jpg (702x658, 67K)

What do you mean how? It's in the video

I'm using xiaomi, I don't have it.

Also these cards are going to become so exceedingly cheap streaming will become more expensive than local storage. I would not be surprised if you could nab a 2TB mSD for like $80 in a year or two as even cheaper 256 layer 3D QLC NAND productionscomes online.

Pair that with most phones these days being able to decode 10-bit main profile HEVC and you could cram ~1000 hours or more of 720p/1080p 10-bit HEVC video right inside your phone.

What if I wanted to store hours of very high quality 60FPS 4K videos of your fat mother?

Since this entire board has been flooded by brand circle jerking/shill threads/generals can anyone here help me with high quality hevc video encoding? Also does 2-pass CRF do anything in terms of improving compression efficiency?

Basic batch script for anyone else interested:
for %%f IN (*.mkv, *.mp4) do (
ffmpeg -i "%%f" -c:v libx265 -preset fast -crf 22 -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -c:a libopus -b:a 192k -vbr on -compression_level 10 "%%~nf_10bx265.mkv"
)

So far for me this has given me the best file size/quality/encoding speed ratio to date but I would love to improve it if possible. Also here is a freebie 2-pass webm making script where you will get the best quality possible but every minute of video = ~1MB regardless of res or source, increase the bitrate to increase the quality at the cost of bigger file size. Webm related example.
for %%f IN (*.mp4, *.mkv, *.webm) do (
ffmpeg -i "%%f" -pass 1 -y -bf 8 -c:v libvpx -lag-in-frames 25 -b:v 128k -deadline best -cpu-used 0 -an -f webm nul
ffmpeg -i "%%f" -pass 2 -y -bf 8 -c:v libvpx -lag-in-frames 25 -b:v 128k -deadline best -cpu-used 0 -an -f webm output.webm
)

its over

Here is that same webm but now with a staggering 192kbps done with 2-pass encoding

Attached: output.webm (640x360, 1.92M)

And here it is with a unrealistically high 256kbps bitrate just for teh lulz.

>that camera bump
ho boy i cant wait for that thing to break after 2 months of usage

NOOOOOO.... that's it, I'm going to post satania threads now

It won't break if you actually put your the phone down gently instead of just dropping it on the table.

Except now the camera lens will shatter into a million pieces.

>drop phone on table
>camera breaks
>wtf why

yo dawg I heard you like camera bumps so I put camera bumps on your camera bump

Hey, retards!
Guess what? SD cards are REMOVABLE. It's not about muh capacity, it is about being able to transfer all the data you cared about from the phone without the hassle of data recovery.

Exactly unless you want a disgusting hideous case the makes the camera protrude even more like a cancerous tumor your run-of-the-mill tupperware case won't shield your camera lens.

Ditto, micro SD cards have been known to survive falls from like 10 story high drops of death onto pavement all the way to falling to the bottom of a pool. Of course the phone cushions most of the fall but still, those are some batshit insane Gs they survive.

bumping for this

Porn

This, those sub-1mbps streams get old really fast.

This Apple launch was really sad.

At least you macfags finally get a night sight ripoff.

Pixel 4 will give you the stars.

>no micro SD
God fucking damnit.

lol who gives a shit are you using a fucking Treo 700 with only 128MB of storage?

Some countries like Thailand will still eat it up. When the X came out I see everyone and their mothers have one.

It's already out!

Attached: MOAR.jpg (711x704, 101K)

t. Guy who doesn't understand streaming or video storage.

it still blows my mind that iphones don't suport sdcards and people are fine with that

I like to record high quality 4K 60FPS footage and then watch it at 50% on a 1080p display to get 100% chroma and supersample'd luma to get the best viewing experience possible on a smartphone. Problem is you need a batshit high bitrate in excess of 100Mbps to achieve this, that's about 1GB/minute of footage and I like to record in excess of 10 minutes if possible before uploading that onto youtube. On top of that I can professionally edit video (ie greenscreen stuff by converting that to 4:4:4 108060fps video which I can then load up on sony vegas pro and get the highest quality video upload possible on youtube (my backup archive).

To add insult to injury my desktop is complete garbage (dual-core i3) so no way in hell am I going to transcode my 4K 100Mbps blu-rays to anything smaller than 1GB/minute within a reasonable time frame. Even 256GB of internal storage is absolute GARBAGE to me, 512GB is just barely getting by constantly having to swap video between my computer and phone.

Streaming is never reliable outside of very low quality 1080p video (lmao) and it completely decimates your battery life. For my case it's completely unusable.

Sounds autistic as fuck.

Too bad no phone with a good camera is going to have an sdcard.

This is the least aesthetically pleasing phone I've seen in 10 years.

Have you seen the 5c?

it's going to cost 15k to buy new.
>spending a half a year's pay to indulge your internet/social media addiction that's destroying your attention span and mental health
fuck that. i'm going back to a blackberry.

Attached: 1562368629657.png (2560x2300, 3.11M)

S10+ looks decent enough and does 60fps at 4K but yeah it's a remorsefully sad observation phone tech is being crippled by stupid OEM takeaway of very useful features.

Also it seems autistic until you learn that phones do the quickest bilinear upscaling of chroma possible else you wouldn't have 10+ hours of video playback (literally ~1 watt power consumption for screen, sound, and cpu). The only way you can make 1080p 4:2:0 look somewhat decent on a 1080p display is to max out the settings on MadVR with better than A=1 Bicubic chroma scalers and at which point you're maxing out a fucking Vega 56 desktop GPU.

Attached: whew.jpg (663x520, 393K)

DONGLR

Fuck me, I just tried to record 4K30fps footage with a capped bitrate of 40mbps HEVC and it looks likes shit.

>tfw my phone has mSD slot
I am not a smart man

Attached: 1547407190417.jpg (252x200, 8K)

>>has no mSD slot
Yup, not a smart man at all

Rage 2 is 1080p60 on a 480 and you're claiming it takes more than that to render an ugly video?

Yup basically this is the dilema: back in boomer times storage space was insanely limited and cpu resources expensive AF so the legion of mega boomers got together and decided that the only solution to the dilema was to sacrifice color information by only encoding 1/4th the resolution of the intended video output resolution on a screen. This worked pretty well during the first 10 years of the DVD dark ages since at the time first gens of LCD TVs were garbage and the resolution was so low it looked like shit anyway. Now you can easily tell the difference between 1080p encoded in 4:4:4 and 4:2:0 from a 4:4:4 source especially in low bitrates/done with GPU encoding even on a chink smartphone.

>blah blah blah
You can't just magically make up 75% of all the missing color information on 4:2:0 video (ie virtually all in existence) so you upscale the chroma to the intended output video resolution. If done quickly using HW scalers it looks like ass and if done on fucking neural network based upscalers on high end hardware you can barely play it real-time.

The most practical solution to this is to play 4:2:0 at 50% where the chroma is played at full 100% native res and the luma is supersampled to give the video a sharpening like filter except it makes the video look clearer.

i had never thought of that, the iphone is a lot like the space shuttle. legitimately.

an overpriced, over-engineered design that is barely capable of fufilling the promises it was built around. To make it work in the way that everyone thinks it works requires jumping through so many specifically designed, expensive, and inconvenient hoops that it really just hammers in the fact that they didn't ever have enough money to pay for it in the first place, let alone the hoops it makes you jump through, and borrowing money to get it was a terrible idea.

i don't watch that much stuff, and if i do i always make sure its a high quality rip that wouldn't have chroma subsampling, but that's kind of the reason why i don't really watch stuff anymore. its all garbage, its not even important if it visually looks good. its all mindless consumer shit that people don't even feel bad about subsampling video quality on

its not the fact that a vcd rip of the avengers looks like shit, its that it legitimately doesn't matter if you watch the movie on vcd or blu ray, its not going to improve the quality of your experience. Like at least with old film movies there is at least some semblance of desire to make it look visually pleasing

>I use the storage for pirated movies and shit.
Look at this faggot. Grown ass man watching movies on his phone... in PUBLIC hahahahaha

What are you gonna do about it, faggot? Why don't you stop staring and come over here and suck my dick? I like men like you who wear skirts and a long hair wig in public.

ITODDLERS BTFO

What a circus of a company.

You think that's bad? We've had movies scaled to 4K from 1080p sources. Half the 4K movies out there weren't even produced in 4K.
