Can you name a single reason why a perfectly happy Windows 10 user should switch to Linux?

no

If windows works for you, stick with it
t. fulltime loonix user
It's a much better programming environment, and is great for customization
But if you're not into either of those things Windows just works
If you seek adventure
"perfectly happy" no
"imperfectly happy" or "unhappy" yes
you baked in the answer you wanted in the wording of the question.
Arch is somewhat similar to windows tbqhwy. Tons of updates but at least you decide when/if you want to update. It can break if you're unlucky but way more reliable than windows.
Linux is a kernel. You probably mean GNU.
>perfectly happy Windows 10 user
No such thing. But if you are one of the few "happy" windows 10 users then you shouldn't move to any other OS.
No. If it works for you keep using it.
A happy user may simply not know the horrors under the hood. Windows is straight malware at this point.
>Better programming environment
If your idea of better programming environment is a riced Arch linux with i3 and some shitty text editor then you should keep on LARPing.
No. If you are happy w/ windows then w.e.
Serious question here, how many people use Arch for work?
Me. arch+i3+emacs-nox
visual studio is spying bloatware
The main 4
More privacy
Faster
More customization
Package managers are favorable to hunting for an EXE
But its fine that you like windows so these are just my reasons to give.
Extreme autism.
Wants to be miserable.
Hates games
Enjoy wasting 1 hour of doing something that you can do in 20 seconds in windows.
Test weird software for no reason at all.
Loves waste time.
is gay.
no i used to rin gentoo linux with i3. wndows are so easy
Can I ask what's your job? Only asking because I think I'm about to try Arch.
Im love being happy
I play games all the time with proton which gives over 85% compadibillity with windows titles
I dont waste time at all,i just use different software.
People test softwate to report bugs and generally contribute
And im not gay......im bi....ok its a fair point...
Well, 4 essential freedoms for one thing.
Backend OCaml developer.
Alright, thanks user
No, they're perfectly fine cattle/ sheep to the slaughter
Linux is just a kernel.
Whats so bad about proprietary software? Why don't you want to impose your will on others? Don't tell me you actually think commoners deserve freedom user...
commoners won't understand the message which is why they can keep on using windows
>muh privacy
For what? I'm not a criminal and I don't have shit to hide.
Post your email password, credit card number and home address
>Windows 10
There is your reason.
You didn't say why should I care about privacy.
You shouldn't. Now post that password, credit card number, and home address please.
Tell me why do you want it first.
But unfortunately Linux is shit. If it was as good as people said it was, it'd be a lot more common, but thanks to a shitty UI and overall crappy system, it turns off many people.
Good in concept, bad in execution.
Looks like someone has something to hide.
No, I don't need a reason. You have nothing to hide remember?
No. It's just that you don't have anything to offer.
>I don't have anything to hide!
>...unless you have nothing to offer
I thought so.
>just tell me everything because yes
Nice argument.
>I'm going to hide things until someone says what I want them to say
Nice hypocrisy
user you've already objectively proven him wrong and he'll never accept his own stupidity, just let it go.
If you got a good reason then why shouldn't tell what you need in trade of giving me something that I want?
I'm pretty sure the anime posting user has won this argument.
Because this is not a trade. You said you have nothing to hide, now post your info.
For me, linux could be 5x worse than windows and I would still use it.
>Would you rather be a monitored slave, or a free man who can do what the fuck he wants
>Because this is not a trade
Then I don't want even to talk to you, stranger.
GNU/Linux*
>Privacy
>For what?
>I have nothing to hide
>No, I won't post my info, I keep them hidden
>It's my privacy
Hmm, it's almost like you have something to hide from me.
Why should I give you information if you don't have anything to offer?
Because you have nothing to hide. I'm not the one who said that, you did, remember?
>Nothing to hide
>Won't deliver
The state of Wincuck 10 user
He's proving the fundamental point that everyone has something to hide. In the situation in which you have no privacy, you don't have control of what you can divulge or not.
It is only because of any level of privacy that now you are in any position to bargain with someone with your information in exchange for something.
This is (especially for you) the reason why you should care about privacy. If you didn't have any then you lose everything.
Again, like I said. You proved his point.
It's only because you have privacy that now you have the option as to wether you wish to divulge this info.
However, you use said info on stuff like Windows, you don't have that option. Telemetry is forced upon you and people you don't even know has access to all of that info that you wish to not divulge here. The only option in order to HAVE any option as to whether you wish to consent to giving said info, is to use an operating system that respects that right to privacy (ie GNU/Linux).
Now, judging from your previous arguments, you would say "well, the reason why I choose to run Windows is because they offer me a service in exchange". This couldn't be further from the truth. The only reason why Windows is on your computer is either:
A. Microsoft made a deal with the hardware manufacturer to put their OS in your computer in exchange for the manufacturer's money.
B. You bought it.
Nothing regarding the invasion to your privacy in regards to using Windows was consentual, you didn't make a "deal": Microsoft is straight up stealing from you.
Fakebook here, we're making a giveaway and need all your private information. You have a chance to win between 0 and 10000 American dollars.
planned obsolescence is fucking everywhere in Linux, if you don't update the distro, it cannot get new software. Flatpak, snap and appimage can solve the problem but historically the machines have been slaves to repos.
The concept of a 5-10 year LTS with new software updates is unheard of to Linux users, it's either a bleeding edge with bleeding edge software or a old distro with old software, they do not grasp the concept of a stable base LTS that allows updates.
>It's fast
>The good game genres have first party support
>Ports on Linux are often superior to their Windows counterparts
>Very few crashes or hangups
>Debian-based distros just work out of the box and can be customized all you like
>Easy to set fonts, no registry fuckery
>Runelite for Runescape can be tiled as a window, you can't do that on Windows
>Multiple DE's to pick from
>A distro for every ideology, purpose, usecase
>Good AMD support
>No Wallpaper compression (the workaround on windows is a bitch)
>Easier to navigate UI that doesn't change often
>Can choose between rolling distros or stable
>Variety of browsers not available on Windows or poorly supported on Windows
>Terminal lets you bypass the need for a GUI and just type in what you need
>For following a guide on the internet you can just copy and paste their commands. Edit it at worst.
>Most distros have superb documentation.
>Large communities that are willing to help.
>Unless it's the Arch community.
>Don't install Arch.
>Ricing if you're into that
>Tiling WM's if you're into that
you don't know how secure GNU/Linux is, Android Linux is being managed by Google and just the kernel and we know that has lots of exploits. If the GNU variation of Linux ever went viral we will see what exploits will be found.
Canonicals repos could get hacked... newbs could be tricked into building a virus from source, viruses attached to appimages. The web browser gets infected and banking information gets stole. Viruses from PPA's. GNU/Linux is not bullet proof it's just security through obscurity.
A virus doesn't need the Root account for it to access all the files on your computer.
Free as in freedom, but not freetime compiling a kernel to work as good as Windows is optimized for your hard drive. You also waste money using a shitty OS.
>Forever free, no need to sometimes call up microsoft to restore your key.
>No worrying about updates, updates won't ruin anything
>Unless you're on Arch
>Please don't install Arch
>In every measure of speed Linux clocks in faster than Windows
>Defaults are generally sane
>Can choose between a minimal install or a bloated one if you'd like
>Firefox comes standard and your OS won't beg you to please please PLEASE use Edge
>Few viruses
>If a change is dumb you can migrate to another distro within the Linux family ecosystem
>Speaking of ecosystems there's a wide range of packages available through your chosen Distros package manager
>It's fucking free
I've come to realize you're using shit tons of libraries and dependencies, but probably couldn't write everything from scratch if you tried. Better for lazy programmers.
They're in Plato's Cave.
There are a lot more horrors under the hood of a 1980's Unix based design than NT based designs. There's a reason Linux isn't gaining market share.
i switched cause i have to use a debian machine at work sometimes and now i know bash commands pretty good
>List multiple valid reasons to use linux
>no rebuttal

shared libraries and dynamic updates means software breaks compatibility every few years. Once repos tied to a distro go down old software is literally lost forever.
Linux not only fails to preserve reverse compatibility but it literally cannot even transform legacy distros into work stations. There is no historical legacy of Linux, they are just throw away computers that constantly break things with rapid updates.
inb4 Linux updates equal better features. The lack of stability is what makes Linux scary to third party devs. The KDE guys and the foot fag gnome devs and large historical projects are the only ones that contribute to Linux.

One of my friends is considering about migrating from 10 to (GNU/)linux and their main reason was so they wouldn't have to deal with bloatware anymore. That seems like a pretty legit reason to switch if built-in spyware doesn't concern you.
>once software is deleted it's gone
hurr
nothing is scary unless you're a retard, just pin your dependencies if you're too brainlet to track upstream
