First off, this makes no logical sense, because women carry purses, so the size of the phone literally doesn't matter, whereas men typically need to put everything they need in their pants, so thinness does matter, unless you're some autist with a fanny pack or a belt clip. I can't even understand why they dropped it. My sister has a Macbook Air which gets moved around a lot, and on the off chance that someone trips on the cord in the living room, it just pops off. Simple and thoughtful design. But then they replaced it with USB-C ports, because for some reason we need one port for EVERYTHING. And in doing so, they regressed back to the iBook G4's impossible-to-detach power port.

patently(pic related) false. You can get usb c tumors that do the same thing because apple was too lazy. of course, this also means you can use it on anything else with usb c, so that's nice. I've also seen them for usb a, but never done properly. They still stick out too much to really provide any protection. The right way to do it would be to use one of those half connectors as are used in some usb "keys" and make a slim breakaway connector for it.
I'd love to see more of this for pretty much any connector ngl.

What for? I'd understand a desire to have a serial port or even a full-blown rj45 in your phone, but physical video outputs are simply redundant. There's a lot of ways to get your shit displayed through a network, and if you absolutely have to connect to a brainless monitor, nothing's wrong with external usb video adapters. As a bonus you can also make their internals fpga-based and hackable as fuck.
