The e series chassis are made out of plastic.

And the others are made out of what?

Some kinda magnesium alloy.

Only X has alloy, others are plastic

>8 GB RAM
>256 GB SSD

No, that's a rip-off

It looks like it has upgradeable ram might be better to get one refurbished for much cheaper and upgrade it yourself.

The T series Thinkpads use magnesium alloy as well. IMO only the T and X series of Thinkpads are worth buying.

Looks based to me. Install Ubuntu or distro of choice.

Thinkpads are a meme

great internals, however...
> Fn and Ctrl are swapped
into the trash it goes

nobody cares. people want the clit, but thinkpads are garbage, as all laptops are.

is the ram soldered?

So is every thinkpad ever? It's not like you can't swap them in bios or something....

No it's not, everything is upgradable except GPU/CPU

Not bad for 600

It has dedicated graphics which isn't preferred for Linux but if you are gonna be on windows it isn't as much of an issue. Physical left and right click buttons are bae.

I tought these had one soldered ram "stick" and one slot for expanding ram?

It has integrated graphics?
Ryzen mobile APU

>It has dedicated graphics which isn't preferred for Linux
what's bad about dedicated graphics on linux?

Look for ryzen 2500u or 3500u more cheaper

Linux drivers don't exist cuz Linux is shit

if you need a laptop, you could do a lot worse than a new thinkpad/dell

I want something lightweight and not giant (15.6" or more).

Less than 4 lbs is a must, and no 1366x768 bullshit or i3/Pentiums

Why not build desktop? $600 is a BUTTLOAD of dough for a 2700 + Rx 570 system including the monitor, mice&keyboard. Are you sure you want 20% performance of what you could get just for the laptop form factor?

Class

What the fuck does that even mean?

He is in college dummy.

That makes getting a $600 laptop even WORSE.

>single channel ram on ryzen
no its awful because of this alone

Power management isn't as good and you'll be on dedicated GPU a lot reducing battery life.

I see at the end of the title vega 10 so I assumed there was a dedicated gpu

um no sweetie

although generally nvidia does a shitty job of patching linux drivers amd and intel do purpose building and releases on time with winblows

Not bad for the price, those usually have only one ram stick and a open slot so upgrade is easy and efficient.

This, just get a used $100 gookpad if you need it for class.

you're retarded

>why not just buy a plane instead of a car

Terrible analogy, OP wants WANTS a car that can ALSO fly else he would have gotten the cheapest celeron trasheap at wallmart
