thx i like my eyes

>cheapest "word processing" level CRT ever made by Sony
Dude, at least get an F9 or an FW900

Give me a list of based CRTs and I'll consider it. I'd like an FW900 but I can't find anyone selling them.

I can hear this image

17,000 hz?

I've noticed an increase in my productivity and focus when I switched to a Chad Retina Transmission, and I have severe ADHD. Never going back to eye-drying, headache blistering, dead pixeling, shit colouring, digital signal monitors again. Of course, I make an exception for my ThinkPad[s].

Zoomer who never grew up using these pieces of shit detected. I don’t miss them a bit.

sounds about right

>some no-brand CRT
not comfy
upgrade to at least a Sony Trinitron or something from Viewsonic

It's actually some weird UK "value" brand. I got an IBM C220p in the closet but I really have no use for a resolution that big, so I'm tryna find someone to come pick it up and take it to a new home.

>use CRT
>Optiquest Q51, worked for more than 2 decades, like it a lot
>one fucking pin on the VGA connector snaps off at the base
>can't even solder that shit
>no signal
wat do

Open monitor, replace entire connector.
Just don't touch anything, instagib voltages in there even when the thing is off and unplugged.

>Not frying your brain

my 27gl850 is unironically better than any crt

I get it now, CRTs are only great if you used high end shit

Yeah, they're a bit like every other form of display tech in that way.

That DK art... please give us a closeup.

Feels pretty good, i've got a large 4k panel for movies and shit, and a 27" 1440p 144hz for gaming.

I'm not an autist so CRT simply aint for me.

>muh taste > ur taste epic lul prank bros

I'm literally using an experimental AUO 330Hz panel for my PC screen. It's almost the same shit as the one found in the ASUS laptop Linus reviewed. Ironically it functions entirely off the DP 1.4 connector. I don't know how.

I'm using a TITAN RTX to run this shit and sometimes it feels slow. I mean, most games run at the necessary speed. AUO did an amazing job with this panel though.

I'm not an autist either, but they certainly have their place for perfect color repro and range, and authentic retroboxes.

>perfect color repro

Can we grow the fuck up and stop with this shit already? Your eyes get incinerated when you're looking at the screen. You can get much more expensive panels that offer vastly better color reproduction. ANd actual 12bit color output rather than 8.

>Your eyes get incinerated when you're looking at the screen.
Can you grow the fuck up and stop being such a soft cock?
People were staring at CRTs for fifty years before you were born, and we're still waiting for the 5G-style 600 gorillion cancer victims, etc.
You do know what is the most common backlight in an LCD is, by the way?

>You do know what is the most common backlight in an LCD is, by the way?
Yes it's LEDs, whats the problem?

>What does it feel like to be a brainlet with shit taste in computer screens?
You tell us, CRTard

>Yes it's LEDs

Attached: 1524525634387.png (550x550, 88K)

Is it 2010 or something?
Basically every single TV and monitor has been using an LED backlight for like 5 years now, hell it might even be more as Apple has had LED backlit screens in their macbooks since 2007

They flicker really badly.

But I do. They are great for old systems and content that doesn't look good on modern displays.

A laptop user

>implying
The only reason to use a CRT in 2019 is /vr/. That said the analog nature of CRTs make any resolution up to the maximum look amazing while LCDs only look good at resolutions that are an integer multiple of their native resolution.

Good luck finding a CRT that still has good high voltage coils and the brightness doesn’t suck.

Classic "Mount Stupid" statement. I've said it myself in the past (granted that was probably 10 years ago). Sure there was a time when early LCD technology that LCDs were noticeably severe downgrades in many ways from CRTs and it seemed like their absolute conquest of the CRT was the victim of novelty-seeking consumerism. But the fact is the industry saw that the bulky, limited, expensive, rare-material CRTs were not economically sustainable. It's a bit of a shame that there isn't even a niche production of new CRTs as they do have niche use, but they just aren't your general-purpose monitor.

Doesn't that UPS fuck with the CRT?

It's a pure sine wave unit so no. It can go on battery and the screen works fine as long as I don't degauss it.

>IPS monitors have a lifespan of about 4 years
>TN panels flicker like a drug addict's eyelids
>CRT is bright as shit and winks like homosexual's poop chute
>OLED has faster burn in than the twin towers
Can we just develop a better panel already? Fucksake it's 2019.

Micro LED will save us soon™

Why do you hate capitalism?

I like capitalism, I just hate faulty hardware. You don't need to make your shit break after a while to get someone to buy a new device or contact you for repairs. Just partially hold back innovation and advances every release so people have something to buy the next time. Soon being the hoped timeframe, cost being the factor. Chances are it will cost as much as an VA did back in the day. With new technology comes new price tiers.

Sounds jewish. . .

They don't fit inside my tablet and laptop :(

There is a reason the Rothsteins are the wealthiest family in the world. Jewish tricks work. Makes money for the company and saves headaches for the consumer. If you can afford the new technology, you upgrade. If you can't or have no need to, you stick to the old tech. People still run Core Duos with CRTs just fine, because they were before planned faults were reintroduced by idiotic teams.

>he never used a computer crt
lol

>Rothsteins
>Core Duos
>with CRTs
Nice memes kid

Please stop giving me flashbacks to my LAN party days. Neckbeards galore, myself included, lugging 20+lb CRTs up flights of stairs into a single apartment, the fusebox screaming in agony, and the synchronized eternal buzz of dozens of CRTs trying to survive 32 hours of fucking Starsiege: Tribes, Starcraft, Unreal Tournament, Doom, and Quake.

>he thinks 20lb is heavy
Lifting my 85lb trinitron up a flight of stairs was a real workout. The problem isn't that it's heavy, but rather it's heavy and also fucking gigantic.

I was referring more to not being retarded with marketing and faults. Present something that works indefinitely and offer upgrades throughout the years for those with the money or the desire. 7:1 in favor of upgrading, as we see with each new iteration of Apple products, CPUs, and GPUs. A good example is cars. Sure, new tech is slowly being developed. But most people seem content to stick with their 1982s over 2019s. Still a thriving market though.

As for CRTs and Core Duos, you must be new. Even without the Speccy threads showing stubborn chinkshits, you still have countless industries and businesses relying on antiquated tech with no intention of upgrading. If it isn't broken and still works for what you are trying to do, why change?

I don't think it's heavy, no. But I do find it hilarious. Probably the most intensive workout half of us got back in the day.

They're called Core 2 Duos, and even poorer schools are getting rid of them now. I retired my q6600 about 3 years ago.

I remember that kid who brought a 15" LCD monitor to a LAN party who instantly became VIP with his OMG SO THIN AND LIGHT monitor. Once we fired up the games all but the plebest of plebs looked away.

>Yonah is the same as Merom
I advise sepulcher.
>even poorer schools are getting rid of them now
Yes, but that is the result of a broken school system. Businesses and industries still use outdated tech with no intention of changing. A good example is airplanes. Still chugging along on old as sin hardware and software.

Man, I miss the mahoosive and extremely clicky power buttons. You'd literally have to penetrate the monitor pushing that shit so far deep into it.

>click
>boing
>tsssssss

>Airplanes
Because airplanes are expensive and airlines want to maximize the amount of money they make from buying one
Computers are cheap

And sometimes it got enough dirt inside it stay pushed in.

Why do you have furniture and outlets outdoors?

Touch buttons are fucking bullshit, I wish I could go back to real buttons.

I'd considering getting one, how much energy do they consume?

Track balls suck. There's much less precision with them. Gaming with those things is hell, or using any application than requires precision.

user are you in the UK?
I will drive to you and pick up that IBM CRT. I'm in Cambridge.

My old GDM-5510 bit the dust like 10 years ago.
Only CRT I have around is a 17" shitty flat shadow mask, which occasionally has vert collapse so I need to fix it before it dies.
Also a 36" HD CRT that I should get repaired too, but it only has component input of worth, no RGB/SCART and useless VGA.

If I could buy a brand new FW900. I probably would.

Monitors were easy, just face the screen inwards and the let the weight rest on you.

CRT should work at lest 100 or better 120 Hz to feels good
In that case resolution usually dropped to 800x600 or even 640x480...

enjoy your tumors

>analog signal is somehow limited to 8 bits
On the other hand GPU itself probably only have 256 levels per channel anyways

kill yourself

not if you have a good one

Attached: ApplicationFrameHost_2019-09-14_14-47-31.png (466x565, 21K)

Ah yes, I sure do prefer my monitor to be an electron cannon in the form of a vacuum glass tube, complemented by toxic components and the ability to shoot ionizing radiation at my face.

Attached: 1566574436873.jpg (1080x1266, 410K)

CRTs give off X rays. It's not really a problem if you're far away enough from the screen, but you will always be close to a monitor.

>What does it feel like to be a brainlet with shit taste in computer screens?
Feels like great looking animu and porn on 27inch diagonal and no eye pain and problems, I have no brain and I must be cool-kun.

>great
*less bad

>CRT is bright as shit
lie, zoomer/idiot revealed
>IPS monitors have a lifespan of about 4 years
complete bullshit again
>OLED
this possibly, but you are clearly a retard

Attached: NOT_B8.png (800x800, 21K)

Just cut the cord , resolder another peice of vga cable to it , and ur done

(most) CRTs have perfect black levels but the colors are terrible compared to any LCD
SDTV looks sharp and pixelated on a high end PC CRT so no, in practice you do still want a low maximum res CRT for low res content
with gamma correction (on the GPU's CRTC, in 12-bit color) things aren't so bad
none of these are real problems
100w range

My old one wasn't detected by windows 7 64bit
Driver which was on monitor's CD don't work either
And Windows don't allow manually push refresh rate of "Generic PnP monitor" higher even if I "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" unchecked
Totally Planned Obsolescence.

Track ball between anime boobs mouse pad. This is a new level of genius.

what you do is you read your monitor's spec sheet and set your own display mode with (on windows) CRU, you never get a >85hz preset even if the monitor can do it easily

>useless VGA
Also known as RGB

Death to picture tubes.

Attached: hot_crt_action.webm (1280x720, 2.77M)

>garbage-tier chink tubes
nothing of value was lost

what does this achieve

Same thing most other religious practices achieve.

Attached: euphoric fedora.gif (600x338, 2.09M)

cringe but probably intended I guess

Sometimes the truth makes you cringe.

cringe

This.
CRT autist will never understand.

Attached: 1.jpg (1920x884, 220K)

CRTs can reach 144hz easily, you're just dumb.

>easily
At what resolution, screen size and screen ratio?

at least now I can walk around in my room with my guitar without having it's strings bombarded with electrons every time I face the monitor
I miss the smell, wouldn't mind sniffing the top

This VGA is very useless, it goes to a crappy scaler chip first, only supports 1024x768 max and does so as a 4:3 window with borders on all sides that are 50% grey.

Useless.

>CRTs can reach 144hz easily, you're just dumb.

at 640x480*

unless you're spending stupid money, likely nothing higher than 480p

based incel

>not going with a tri-CRT setup

heh, plebs.

Attached: batelstation.jpg (2764x2073, 793K)

how the fuck does this work
I put two CRTs next to each other I always get magnetic interference
