Looking for a silent keyboard

I've tried the Logitech K380 (which is said to be "virtually silent" by amazon reviewers) and some mech boards with lubed 70g aliaz but it's still not quiet enough for me. Any suggestions?

cunny

I've got neighbors next door who have been complaining a lot about my typing, so it's not just about me

>neighbors next door who have been complaining a lot about my typing
do you type with your forehead?

No. My flat has very thin walls

show them your middle finger
you can't just stop living because your neighbors don't like the sound of it
If you were partying or playing music with loud volume, then they'd be right
but typing....
what are your walls made of?! cardboard?!

Nothing beats the literal silence of literally any low profile memebrane keyboards, but this low profile mechanical keyboard is pretty quiet for what it is:

youtu.be/_q0OMXbSFG8?t=496

The shape and size of the keycap is responsible for the loudness of full size keyboards.

Tell them to fuck off

Drown the sound in static noise

that's a 10/10 in bongland

If you want something silent try Fujitsu KB521
It's around 30 euros but it's worth it

> Nothing beats the literal silence of literally any low profile membrane keyboards
Yes, that's what I'd like to get, since I've tried everything on a custom build I made a couple of months ago but it still sounds louder than standard membrane boards

Logitech prodigy

This.
What kind of faggot complains about membrane keyboard noise behind a closed door?

do they hear you coooming though?

>"virtually silent"

What's loud to you is silent others. I learned this when buying computer fans.

Is this guy the new meme on 4channel?!
every fucking board i go, i see his fucking face: /tv/, /sp/, Jow Forums, /sci/, Jow Forums,...

old tablet and kde connect

>fall for the mech kb meme
>extremely loud
>keys far apart
>huge travel distance pressing keys
>wobbly af

Is this a fucking joke, you pay more in order to handicap yourself.

You never typed on anything but laptop keyboards or something?

Not our fault you bought a shit one.

this guy gets it
>muh feedbacks, muh it's satisfying when you feel the springs under your fingertips
it's loud and shitty

You're typing directly on springs? I can see why that might give you issues.

typed on everything.
normal membrane kbs are shit, at work I use all kinds of kbs.

But after typing for years on my personal laptop, switching to a mech was a nightmare, literally no benefits, only huge downsides.

The only thing I like is the aesthetics and "feel".
Forgot that facts don't care about my feelings and neither my fingers, my wrist, my ears, other people ears, my wallet, my typing speed, typo-free typing etc.

test

>a shit one
literally tried from the cheapest to the most expensive, bought some, borrowed some.

You're absolutely delusional, the fact that you still talk back while all you have to do is to fucking LOOK AT THE FUCKING KEYBOARD, LOOK AT IT YOU FUCKING GINGGER

Price is not necessarily indicative of quality. Name the keyboards you used and their switches, I bet they're all shit.

when your mother was pregnant, others could feel your kicks and movements just by placing their hand on your mothers belly.
No one needs to pull an embryo out of his mother only to feel it
You get it now, buddy?!

Are you ok?

This is the biggest cope I've ever seen.

with you worshiping mechanical keyboards?! absolutely not!!

>still not naming them
It's ok user, it was obvious you were lying

Mechanical kbs are good for modding, nice feels, aesthetics etc but they are dogshit for fast/productive/efficient typing.

>K380
>not silent enough for neighbors

stop lying you little faggot, you literally can't hear that keyboard from room to room in an apartment

my guess is you are some underage fag sharing room with a sibling

How so? I type at 125wpm on average with any keyboard. Needing to bottom out constantly is probably the least efficient way to type btw

leopold, vortex, ducky etc
EVERY ONE OF THEM
Look at a mech kb and then at a chiclet.
You have to dip your fucking finger into the fucking keyboard for a character to be registered.
It's the same for all brands, the meh kbs are structured like that, it has nothing to do with the quality.

Their far apart unlike in chiclet kbs
They have huge travel distances unlike chiclet kbs
They are fucking loud unlike chiclet kbs

You keep talking about "quality", it's the nature of mech kbs to be like that, you're unironically below 80 IQ at this point

Shit take.
Also I can relatively type at a similar speed, mech vs laptop but the mech requires more finger movement and focus, because how deep the keys go and you don't want to accidentally triger the neibhoring keys, while it's not an issue with a chiclet, resulting in a fast and effortless typing.

Still not naming switches, you likely just googled popular keyboard brands and copied it over. Leopold, Vorrex, and Ducky all use Cherry switches for the most part, which are dogshit.

Also, please learn how to write. You reek of ESL.

So you're a retarded typist that needs to bottom out constantly. Got it.

Huh, the actuation distance of pretty much any mechanical switch is MUCH higher than the bottom out distance of a membrane switch, so this isn't really an argument.

I type about 150 with mechanical keyboards and about 165-170 on the K380.

Most places, even fucking third world, have sound ordinance in place 24/7. Technically in these places even mowing a lawn at noon or being audible into someone else living space isn't "acceptable".

Some people think they are only in place from some earlier time like 7-8AM to 8-10PM. Rarely is that the case. Annoying your neighbors isn't your right. I can't think of a place where you couldn't legally be removed, of places that matter. In the places no one cares about you probably just get raped and murdered.

What site for wpm

(You)

Attached: pointing-and-laughing.jpg (1691x1123, 489K)

I didn't want to get into this argument again but holy shit
>you don't want to accidentally triger the
It's actually better than laptop keys because the keys are farther apart, and since the actuation point is under the tactile bump you can't trigger it accidentally unless you mistyped to begin with.

You are an underaged troll. I'm done with you

>gets told
>you are a troll

Ok.

>name switches

I don't care about your 0.01% rare special switch.
99% of keyboards use cherry, gateron, kailh and other cherry-like switches
And it doesn't matter since 99% of kbs have around 2mm actuation point you fucking DINGUS.
And most of them are wobbly, ya DINGUS
And they are always louder than a chiclet, YA DINGUS
And they are always spaced further apart (the keys) YA DINGUS

You're of subhuman intellect, the mental gymnastics you do is unbelievable.
Even if you create a custom made, put o-rings, get dsa profile or flatter, or even fucking topre, you're going to spend x10 and AT BEST you're gonna have something close to a chiclet.

K Y S absolute brainlet.

dilate

what a stupid opinion

pls be trollin
they are closer together in chiclet but it translates into faster typing because of the strong bump that protects accidental keystrokes, if chiclets had the 40cn actuation point, sure it would better to have the keys farther apart but that's not the case.
Why do you fail in this most basic logic?

Why do you keep replying to the same posts twice

>get told
>pivot in some meta-discussion shit
you'll do anything but to address your ass getting owned

ran out of arguments, huh?!

no i haven't!!
I'm actually smarter than you, also stop samefagging, mech keyboards are superior in every way, they are easier to type into, they are faster, they are less noise, you just have bad switches, cherry mx and all the known switches are DOGSHIT, only the skrt special switches which despite having 2mm actuation point, in my mind they have 0.5mm actuation point get fucked chiclet kbs

>I've got neighbors next door who have been complaining a lot about my typing, so it's not just about me
Your neighbours don't have the right to impose absurd demands on you. That you're even entertaining the possibility of buying a new keyboard to appease them is proof that you're a fag nigger. Switch to MX blues.

You need one of these. And don't give me that shit that the keyboard is impossible to use because I used to spend hours bashing away on the thing typing in programs.

Attached: ZXSpectrum48k.jpg (2168x1593, 472K)

Get yourself a rollable silicone keyboard. That shit doesn't make a single sound.

Apparently my neighbors can, specially at night. I don't want to tell them to fuck off since I've just moved in and they are genuinely nice people.

I've already tried them, they do make a sound since you need to literally smash the table in order for the key to be registered.

Get a topre keyboard. Trust the process.
youtube.com/watch?v=r07wzuVU5Jo

From what I've read Aliaz are more silent than topre and even that still sounded loud af. I've tried everything on mechboards, from foam below the case, to lubing the springs and switches and getting 'silent' keycaps.

They're not nice if they keep complaining about fucking keyboard noise in another house.

Touch screen keyboards are pretty quiet

The wired apple keyboard with chiclet keys is pretty quiet. I have one at work for shitposting on Jow Forums discretely. Not the older one that came with g4's and not the newer wireless one with the shitty scissor switch keys.

Stop typing so hard you fucking thumbhead.

I got myself a Chinesium™® IK8300 keyboard. The logo is gaudy, but it's sturdily made (the case is genuinely made of metal), it's very compact for a full-size keyboard and it's pretty quiet. I previously used my old keyboard with a big neoprene mousepad underneath, but since I switched to pic related I use it on my "bare" desk.

Just wait for a decent deal. I bought mine under 35USD with shipping.

Forget the keyboard, just have your walls covered with acoustic foam panels.

Those are actually pretty bad at blocking out sound, they're installed in studios mostly to dampen reflections.

This looks neat. Does it have an integrated battery, or does it run on AAAs?
Also is there a dedicated calc button on it?

Get Model M and tell them to shut up.

You are like a little babby.

>This looks neat. Does it have an integrated battery, or does it run on AAAs?
2x AAA. Bought it in april, I have gone through one set of batteries since then.

>Also is there a dedicated calc button on it?
No, this keyboard has a lot of useless macro keys next to useful shortcuts.

The useless:
>Entire row over the numpad, literally macros for Ctrl+a, Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v, Ctrl+x
>Alt+tab macro as a secondary-mode for F11
>Search key for F4, no idea what it does other than open up the search menu on gnome

The useful:
>Brightness controls (F1, F2)
>Home shortcut (F3)
>Volume control (F5, F6, F7)
>Media controls (F8, F9, F10)

No calc button 4u

doesn't have a Super/Win key.
Useless

Thanks for the info. I've been looking for a decent wireless keyboard to replace a little plastic unit I use with my laptop when its hooked up to the TV.
I think this one is it.

Nigger the only ways someone can hear someone else type through walls on a rubber dome are if they have Superman hearing or if the other person is typing on their keyboard with a hammer

Can anyone help me with my dilemma?

Buy a modern one from Unicomp.
pckeyboard.com/

I've already said I've tried mech boards with probably the quietest of switches (lubed aliaz 70g) and they still sound loud af

I don't consider myself a loud typer since I don't tend to bottom out a lot and my desk is not even close to the wall, but apparently there's 0 sound insulation in this flat.

> acoustic foam panels
Do they actually make a difference? Is there another DIY solution I could try to reduce the sound?

They aren't sound proofing panels. As already pointed out they're used to cancel echos and stop them from reaching a mic.

>pckeyboard.com/
> I got myself a Chinesium™® IK8300 keyboard
I haven't been able to find it anywhere, do you know where to look for it? Also, would you mind doing a sound test as there's nothing on youtube?

Do you know any DIY alternatives then?

You'd have to be fucking superman to hear it, even if there's no noise insulation like you say, a billion mundane household tasks are many times louder than those boards. You're not going to be able to do anything other than having an honest conversation with them about boundaries.

whats the best mechanical keyboard i can get on amazon

Yeah I already have, but the issue is that I need to be able to type whenever the fuck I want since I'm a webdev and a cs student, so I'm looking for a peaceful way to get around this since I'm stuck on this flat for a year.

There's nothing you can do. You basically have to say, look, I wish I could help, but the noise insulation is too bad. Do you have to tiptoe around, too?
You could buy them earplugs if they're having trouble sleeping. I'm a very light sleeper and they work well.

>I haven't been able to find it anywhere, do you know where to look for it?
The obvious chink-trash peddling spots.
aliexpress.com/item/32946696597.html

>Also, would you mind doing a sound test as there's nothing on youtube?
Not going to happen

I'm looking for the exact opposite: the noisiest keyboard so I can annoy everyone at the office.

Worth mentioning that these are also listed on Amazon for a few dollars more.

No I don't have to tiptoe and they usually don't complain about other mundane tasks, even vacuuming, it's just the keyboard.

> Not going to happen
Do you at least have another keyboard for reference since I can't find a review that mentions how quiet it is and I don't want to throw my money away.

It's louder than my LG Gram (15z990) keyboard.

>tried everything on a custom build I made a couple of months ago but it still sounds louder than membrane boards
linear switches with qmx clips? gat clears with qmx clips are about as quiet as I've gotten while bottoming out

How many different porn conventions does he go to
He truly is a coomer lol

Did you get to #1, shitstain?

Bullshit, I live in a flat with MX blue and no one complained. Either your neighbour is a thin paper next to you, you're baiting or you're the one getting baited by your neighbour.

sincerely, stop cucking yourself.

That's not too quiet then, thanks anyway
