Ah shit i totally forgot all the pedophiles are gone now so this board is completely dead
Lincoln Price
RPG in medieval times with magic and shit, with Pepe in your party, using Vulkan, coded wit either Rust or C++ w/GLFW
Julian Mitchell
Just please don't use any interpreted language for main engine,it's ok for scripting but nothing more

Looks like we can't even get to #1
Ethan Sanchez
I would suggest you try posting on one of the 4 video game boards instead of making offtopic threads here.
Juan Watson
>programming is off topic on tech board >is on topic on a software consumption board
yeah sure, whatever you say pal
Connor Wood
True, what about Jow Forums theme then? * educational how to start programming (algorithms etc.) * shitpost-based game (e.g. Intel vs AYYMD something) * Meta game, more like Vulkan example how to make that example Well, Jow Forums is about technology. Joint project with /v/ (or more boards) could be interesting, they provide gameplay etc., and Jow Forums provides optimizations and various experimental tricks to make it look beautiful without sacrificing too much resources. Like a game taht also happens to be a tech demo
Kayden Brooks
sure except agdg couldn't fizzbuzz themselves out of a life threatening situation and it's almost as if Jow Forums couldn't either
Alexander Smith
#include
int main() {
std:: cout

Well surely it would be impossible to get people from any board on this forsaken site to be able to cooperate and definitely not a game from the ground up, lmao
Maybe if you went in with the idea of ripping all the assets from an already existing game and provide a more stable backend for it, like Morrowind or something
Jonathan Robinson
This thread isn't talking about programming. #1 on the list is game design, which is not programming. Come back when you have a design.
Evan Thomas
this is more of a test to see if you guys can get past #2 but it ain't looking very good now is it
Christopher Gonzalez
1. Twin-stick shooter where Satania fights off waves of Apple products starting with the least recognized and ending with the most. Single scene with changing background and difficulty spikes at regular intervals to keep it simple. Steve jobs is the final boss, Tim Cook is a mini-boss. 2. JavaScript because of the low complexity and the fact that anyone with a browser can both contribute to, test and play the game. 3. Start here: github.com/IceCreamYou/MainLoop.js/blob/gh-pages/src/mainloop.js
Honestly I'm too lazy to set up a repository and pull any of this shit in.
Juan Rivera
In support for JavaScript and the browser; yes, it's interpreted, but a simple game will still easily run at 60FPS on most systems. Most people on the board are not familiar enough with graphic APIs, let alone languages like C++ or Rust, to be able to contribute in a meaningful way. Those that are likely wouldn't be interested in this project in the first place. By using a browser and JavaScript, something which most people on the board should have some familiarity with, the chances of the project being finished or even started are greatly increased. Say what you want, but using a browser and JS does simplify the development process, and for a community project where mostly lazy NEETs are involved, it's probably the only environment that will get anywhere.
Christopher Miller
Nobody will agree on anything here. You need to pick it for them.
Carson Brown
while i agree with your train of thought, you can't forget that Jow Forums would rather do it in 6502 ASM than ever touching JS for anything other than a browser plugin to filter out anime
Jack Young
You mean that Jow Forums would rather talk about doing it in ASM, but never actually do anything.
Oliver Collins
yes actually, poor phrasing
Camden Mitchell
C is the only reasonable answer. The language of the gods, the language that moves the world, the language that lacks brainlets and trannies.
If is necessary to use a scripted language consider scheme or guile
Justin Peterson
Worms mayhem clone, multiplayer included
Easton Martin
>suggests C >consider scheme or guile >not absolutely based Lua
man are you even trying
Leo Jackson
We are going to build a Shadow of Colossus + Maplestory + Breath of the Wild MMO on C and .NET

I'll make the logo

lua could be an acceptable language, sadly they choosed to be heretics
