/CentOS/ - general

CentOS 7.7.1908 is released!
This is the last big release in the 7 series as it moves into maintenance mode for the next 5 years where it will only be updated with security and critical bug fixes.
Find out why everyone is so enamored with this enterprise distribution before the big 8.0 release next week!

To anyone who’s actually gotten their hands on RHEL 8.0, how’s stratis? That’s one of the more really exciting features with this.

Centos is the most based and redpilled operating system unironically.

you can grab an iso and use it.
you just don't get a subscription, unless you are a "developer", or you can download the sources/rpms to upgrade

I use it and I like it.
t. CentOS guy

>updated when it's ready™
>actually works unlike debian
based

we live in a kernel thread

Just installed and it show yellow warning
>tmpfs bad mount option huge

What is this, please help.

colorbox show error whatdo

Why would I want to use this instead of Debian on my server?

Stop with these garbage threads.
Learn what a "general" is and delete your shitty thread OP.

If you're promoting centos shit, you're promoting redhat indirectly. You're a disgusting stupid cuck and a corporate shill, you should also hang yourself promptly.
Good night sweaty pie.

Centos is incredibly usable and easy to config.
Take literally 5 minutes before you can actually works with it.
It does have some stupid warning from time to time but but I have never got any problem using it.

Ubuntu is very easy to use Centos is like 10 times easier. The only time you have to think is adding RPM fusion.

Why you guys love Fedora but hate Centos? I dont understand.

>Why you guys love Fedora but hate Centos? I dont understand.
I hate both. Not because they're buggy software, I've used both in the past, they work as they should.

It's because of how harmful their proprietor has been towards free software. I don't want to promote anything like this, file bug reports, write software, offer free advertising in word of mouth or any other assistance to McLinux.

>Why you guys love Fedora but hate Centos? I dont understand.
Arguing with systemd autists is a waste of time. CentOS is still often used in enterprise applications and understandably a target for people in the job market. Systemd autists have a hard time understanding this.

How has RedHat harmed free software?

>Centos is the most based and redpilled operating system unironically.

>apparmor

no

I could spend too much time explaining this.
>lurk moar
>Build your own minimal system from scratch
>try to understand all the dependencies on your system
>then ask that question once more.

Them providing the community tools your don't like is not "harmful", as you just rightfully stated, it's up to the user to decide.
Just because your favourite distro now uses systemd isn't redhats fault.

They don't provide the community tools, they very insideously push their tools. It's not up to the user to decide when they're hard dependencies.
>Just because your favourite distro now uses systemd isn't redhats fault.
Yes, yes actually it is. Not just systemd too, they've done the same shit with a bunch of software.

hmm, i wonder why all commercial linux distrobutions ship with it except redhat

>Red hat
>Red pilled

More like red yarmulke.

Doesnt CentOS use SELinux?

Isn't that the same as apparmour but better?

are you fucking retarded?
is this how your brain works after you use arch?
what a stupid faggot.
>>Build your own minimal system from scratch
>>try to understand all the dependencies on your system
how does that have anything to do with free software?
god, is this the kind of people who hate red hat?
people who don't even know what free software is.
the source is GPL and is there, that is literally free software except from the firmware.
Where do this monkey nigger comes from? seriously
I've yet to see a poster more retarded than this one.

what a fucking dumbass, why is there so many people like you in this board?
Learn your shit before posting again, you're so wrong and yet act so arrogant.

Listen you cuck monky.
You're assuming a ton of shit.
Do you even know half the shit that goes on in your bloated OS?
I bet you have no fucking clue.
You love sucking corporate cocks don't you? You little cum-gargling pansy.
There's a ton of "free" software that's garbage. Recently microsoft has turned to free softare, it's a buzzword for idiots like you to suck it up.
It's not just the license, or the source that makes it "free". it's the transparency, and to many it's the simplicity. It's not being forced into frivolous dependencies.
If you had an ounce of a clue you wouldn't be such an outspoken moron. So learn your system and its decades long history or shut the fuck up you enormous faggot.

>muh suckless
>moving the goalpost.
Try FreeBSD if you are still learning about computers.
Seems to me your only complaint is you don't like Red Hat because they fucked your wife.

>It's not just the license, or the source that makes it "free". it's the transparency, and to many it's the simplicity. It's not
No amount of mental gymnastics will change the fact that the source is there ready to be used by anyone.
>Do you even know half the shit that goes on in your bloated OS?
>I bet you have no fucking clue.
nice superiority complex, how does that affect CentOS?
Tell me one reason it's bad, come on.

how does that even suggest that red hat is harmful to free software?
lmao, they pay people to fix bugs retard
