not a DE but openbox is really comfy for ricing and it lets you get your shit done. Don't fall for the /tiling/ meme.

Xfce

Xfce
this

Attached: xfce.gif (737x720, 728K)

use ubuntu with yaru theme and move on.
Don't waste your time with ricing things that are not suppose to be riced.

bro you just posted cringe

KDE Plasma is THE GNU/Linux DE of choice unless your machine isn't powerful enough to run it smoothly. Period.
All other DEs/WMs are worse in one way or another.

dwm

i3wm is what you actually want as it balances productivity with ricing unlike dwm which makes ricing unproductive.

>KDE Plasma is THE GNU/Linux DE of choice unless your machine isn't powerful enough to run it smoothly. Period.
It's also ligher than many of the other DEs (Like GNOME), so in general unless you're using really really weak old hardware, KDE is the optimum choice.

Very cool screen tearing effect, easily one of the greatest features.

what can you say about MATE?

openbox is dead

KDE is shit on my battery life

How do i enable this? I cant find this in the settings.

good doggo

How do I cope with this? What do I use instead?

I'm as clueless as you.
Maybe it's time to take the xfce pill after all.

Outside of setting a wallpaper and some custom key configs to improve your workflow, ricing is always a waste of time

fuck gtk3

bspwm

GNU/Linux*

Prericed systems, weather that's Luke's distro or one of the tiling manjaros setup

GNU*
windowmaker

the K desktop environment

I've been using herbstluftwm for weeks now, I don't think I will ever switch again.

XFCE

gnome is an example of convenience and productivity dialed up to 10000, and ricing to 0.
Tbh I love it.
Xfce is more balanced in not looking like garbage and utility.
Use kde if you don't like productivity but maximum ricing

>convenience and productivity dialed up to 10000
The titlebars take up a quarter of your screen's space

>implying a generic desktop environment allows you to be more productive than one customized and fine tuned to your exact preferences and workflow
Yeah nah

KDE Plasma

KDE is best choice. use XFCE if you like tearing/using an unsupported compositor.

IM GONNA COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

LXQt

>buggy shit
next recommendation?

Lmao why the fuck would you run a graphical desktop environment? just stay in tty and use a screen multiplexer like tmux or screen. If you are blessed enough to have human vision then launch x only when you need it, to view big anime tiddies or whatever you do

i wanna ravage kaede

fuk you

Because I can afford a graphical desktop environment.

bamp

I was looking for that pic.
Got a phone wallpaper version?

this but unironically

xfce is garbage out of the box. use mate, and if you're not a woman and you know how to use terminal, use i3wm

It doesn't need to be called that anymore because HURD exists. Linux can run without GNU userland and GNU can run without the Linux kernel.

I like cute anime grils!

xfce > gnome >>>>>>>>>>>>>> shit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> kde

Why is gnome above kde twice?

CentOS and Gnome 3.

A fucking rat.

i3

Chrome OS with Google Cloud linux tools. Or you can install Linux locally thanks to a default Google feature. Get to it.

What is the name of this anime girl?

Explorer.exe

Bspwm > i3

Change my mind.

iqdb

Invert a binary tree on a whiteboard.

it has nothing to do with what linux uses

I can't believe that worked as well as it did

KDE

good taste in women

anime tiddies, of course

it's not dead. it's stable enough it reached perfection so it does not need any more updates.

There are a number of reverse image searches specifically targeting weeb content. It's a big part of why asking for sources on /a/ gets you banned.
iqdb searches boorus, if it ever doesn't work you should try saucenao which searches pixiv. saucenao is also good for image searching manga pages and especially doujin pages.

WE'RE ON A DAMN BLUE BOARD YOU MONSTER

OP I would say bspwm, I love it and find that it is incredibly simple and easy to use. I have tried i3wm before but the setup confused me. I currently use bspwm, sxhkd, polybar, and rofi as my core setup.

Personally as a software engineer I found a tiling manager the most productive environment for me (as well as when I'm working on other things). Having the ability to have a dozen windows open that are all relevant to what your working on is an incredible feeling. So I can have two entire workspaces dedicated to code, another for where my terminals are running tests and showing me the output, a workspace for Spotify, and another one for my documentation that I am referencing. It really makes me more productive and I recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to try it.

I know people here hate Reddit and I do too it's a cancer site, but their r/unixporn subreddit has the occasional good idea that might inspire your next rice. OP I would check this out without mentioning it to your Jow Forums buddies (and they have cool bspwm / i3wm rices too)

tiling wms are a meme these days. KDE can be configured to tile windows just as well as any tiling manager, and it allows the user to do plenty of comfy stuff that a barebones WM such as bspwm or i3wm preclude. the "productivity" argument for tiling WMs assumes that the producer is working on shit hardware that can't support KDE. in this case, the dev apparently isn't productive enough to afford or be given even a low end workstation.

tiling WMs are fun and served their purpose well. modern hardware and modern KDE really do relegate them to meme-tier wrt productivity.

My main issue with KDE and xfce is they look butt fucking ugly. I don't need ultra rice desktop with more fashion than function, I'd just like something that doesn't look 1994. Mate and Cinnamon for example looks great.

budgie is pretty good ootb, haven't had to configure it too much. Less buggy than kde when I last tried it.

Any non-tiling wm or de will do.
Avoid tiling at all costs. Complete meme.

i3 - add this

workspace_layout tabbed
hide_edge_borders both

xfce4.
fuck dragonfags.
>muh tearing
compton
>b-but haha you need to do aditional workkk
so does kde. ootb kde looks like chinese plastic toys found in Gusto.
>but xfce ugly ootb
adwaita is more functional than whatever krap de is using. Also you can easily change the theme
>BROOO JUST USE KDEEE REEEEE
no, suck cock
