Apple has (depending on who you believe) between 8% and 10% of the desktop marketshare.
Linux, in all its guises has maybe 2% - 3%.
Most Macs are used in home or SOHO situations. Almost all Linux users are underfunded (or they'd have real PCs) and isolated.
That's why there is so little professional grade software for Linux. The marketshare for Linux is frugal. They run, and demand, free software. And they tinker with their software, bringing problems for the software's support staff.
