This but unironically
I mostly just play games from the 90s and 2000s so it works for me, I dont give a shit about modern applications

Based and Nanamipilled.

I don't care I'm still on XP

You look like a dumb sack of meat with a small brain. Kind of a telling clue.

Enjoy your unpatched zero days, retards

Now this is an intelligent post

>Unpatched zero days? Why, I don't plan on using sketchy programs and visiting child porn websites with js enabled so I will do just fine, how did you find out?

Attached: gigachad.jpg (1068x601, 65K)

>visiting child porn websites with js enabled
So you'll just disable js for those

Just travel to Mexico and pick up a loli.

Doesn't matter when everything I do is in a virtual machine completely separate from my host Win7 machine that was never updated and will never get infected.
'm going to use Windows 7 until I die.

Sticking with it until my computer dies and I'm forced to switch.

There's plenty of exploits which break VM sandboxing

>Why yes, I use Windows 10 LTSC how could you tell

>muh zero days
>muh exploits
You've fell for Microsoft's fearmongering propaganda.

>propaganda

It's infosec 101 you fucking backwards weapon. Patch your shit. If your shit can't be patched, it's unsafe.

Block incoming connections, don't go to shady websites, don't run untrusted software. When there is a severe enough security hole, Microsoft will fix it, as they do for XP. The notion that 7 will become unsafe once discontinued is pure FUD and propaganda from Microsoft.

My home computer is not a commercial environment, you fucking clown.

I WILL DIE FOR W7. I DO NOT FEAR THE EOL. I WILL NOT AFRAID.
WINDOWS 10 PAJEET STINK

I'm actually curios how this is going to pan out because a lot of the credit card processors are still having problems with 10. It's not as bad as it was a year ago, but it's going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of people.

It's pretty funny how many things (ATMs, kiosks, digital signage etc.) are still running pirated Windows 7. There's no reason for them to use it, it's just that nobody knows or cares enough to switch.

I mean, I work in advanced manufacturing. The PCI compliance stuff may be interesting, but the internal workings of manufacturing security fucking terrify me.

Tons of machines are still running embedded xp. It's all a mess of archaic analog technology that wouldn't work on modern equipment anyways without millions invested in top to bottom rewrites that may not even work correctly (especially because you'd need to replicate the bugs if you don't want to simultaneously rewrite your procedural checklists).

These are machines that we have attached to networks, and those networks have systems that can reach the outside world. It's all a push to go paperless because we get so many revisions to parts that we need the latest version to be pushed to all the machines immediately.

It makes sense from a financial standpoint, at least in the short term. A piece of Inconel the size of a pack of cigarettes can be worth upwards of a quarter million because of the amount of time it takes to machine, and we're starting to work with metal ceramic composites that make Inconel look like a stick of warm butter in comparison when it comes to difficulty in machining.

It's cheaper to have an IT team assure the bean counters that the network is secure and "private" than it is to rebuild and replace stuff. It's also really difficult to convince machinists that learned to machine corners and holes with rotary tables that nonphysical threats exist because it's an entirely alien concept to them.

It's not like the old farts are going anywhere. The fact of the matter is that 3 fingered Tom who's been doing shit since the 70s is way better at figuring out what you you can do with some of these new exotic composites than anyone else, because lord knows none of us in engineering have a fucking clue.

Accommodating them is necessary. So we keep on chugging with XP, pray that our boomer machinists don't croak, back everything up continuously, and pray that nothing blows up.

Windows 7 has extended support to 2023, bro. Come back in 3 years.

>mfw m-m-m-m-muh zero days fags

a decade of being horrendously lazy with updates hasn't hurt me so far, not having any won't really be much different

>Work for small business with 30+ people that thinks active directory is a waste of time and 2/3 of the PC's are wiindows 7. They're still can't make up their minds on how to solve this "problem".

Please pray that I get a new job on the next month or 2....

MS doesn't want people to continue W7.
They also don't want people to use W10 LTSC

I don't play many modern games, which popular ones would I have to look out for if I want to exclusively game on Win7?

ITT: pajeets who think they can into computers

Retards, retards everywhere.

Attached: 1568765337412.png (907x646, 142K)

>Block incoming connections
A firewall can only do so much. You're not going to block common ports e.g. 53,80,443, etc. It's not the nineties anymore, retard.

>don't go to shady websites
You don't have to worry about porn sites, its actually ironic. Most porn sites want you coming back and they audit their websites/webapps with professionals. It's the companies that are ran by retards like you that you need to look out for, they have the same mentality about information security. Remember Equifax?

>don't run untrusted software
>downloads exe directly off sites, without doing ANY integrity checking and then runs it!
HA GOOD ONE FROM THE WANGBLOWS USER

>When there is a severe enough security hole, Microsoft will fix it, as they do for XP. The notion that 7 will become unsafe once discontinued is pure FUD and propaganda from Microsoft.
What do you think EOL means? EMET is EOL. Your ass is flapping in the wind. I guess that's how you like. You probably think shellcode is still viable.

>his computer is literally part a russian botnet
Look up ZeuS, you don't know shit. yOu fuCKiNg cLOwN!

I use 8.1 though

At least use win10, what are you doing with your life?

Attached: 1519357444751.jpg (500x700, 215K)

>instead of using this botnet OS use this even BIGGER botnet OS

I'm on arch right now, but Win10 is better overall. Namely, you get hyper-v support. Which means I get to run docker on my work laptop.

>if you don't use the OS microsoft tells you the russians will steal all your data!!!
the absolute state of Jow Forums

>Win10 is better
There are a few things it does better obviously, but overall you just relinquish more control by switching from 8.1 to 10.

>Win10 is better overall
I forgot to quantify that by saying that win10 is better than other windows installation. Also, win10 1903 has a native sandbox

>but overall you just relinquish more control by switching from 8.1 to 10.
I don't really care desu. it''s windows. I use it at work and for vidya when I feel like it.

I moved to arch and haven't looked back

Attached: arch.png (602x500, 45K)

>Using win7
do the needful sir

you should change it to Arch 4.20

two things for linux to take off is
- support games
- usability improvement
(big shiny buttons, emoticons, friendly messages e.g. system crashes then something like " awwww something went wrong :sad face: " or system starts "your computer is working ;thumbs up; "

>installs POSReady 7

Holy fuck no that is pure cancer dear God no please

If I'm using Windows I already assume they exist. Do you think Windows 7 doesn't currently have unpatched 0-days?

1. install NAT
2. ???
3. profit

I haven't updated in years, I've been doing completly fine

Sooo... Ubuntu GNOME with wine?

>Enterprise
>Pro
Problem is, you all run Ultimate because you think the name makes you l33t.
Then there's the whole "you pirated your Windows, denied" aspect.
>$x/device
How this will actually go down is as follows:
>some 7-4EVA faggot crashes
>fork out their $x
>find out that you're actually a stupid faggot and it's your fault (core dumped)
>lose your $x and no patch

It is cancer, but it's also true. Your average mouthbreather isn't going to fuck with Linux if it doesn't pander to him, and clearly Ubuntu-tier cancer isn't sufficient

Boom boom boom
I can't stop singing this bloody tune tune tune

Done and done
Next

Windows is gonna make ya PC go boom boom boom

>windows 10
yeah that fag looks pretty gay so it fits him

winshit 10 is worse, by far it's the worst windows ever released
windows 8 at least runs normally and your cpu usage doesn't go to 100% as soon as you boot into it

Mouthbreathing question here.
Is it possible to activate w10 in notification mode? or its all fucked up and i need to reinstall the whole shit

WINDOWS 7 FOREVER BROS LMOA

Attached: 1559798392287.jpg (612x671, 101K)

that VRAM issue tho

This, maybe with a pci passthrough instead of dual booting for vidya should my toaster ever die.

gonna be ticking tocking for a while, support for POS Ready runs out October 2021

Is this any good?

Attached: 1545181644862.png (894x894, 169K)

I see no reason to update my stable Windows 7 to spyware Windows 10 with constant issues after updates.

indeed, Windows 7 Forever Edition keeps ticking on and on.

>"security updates"
sure....

Attached: 74b.jpg (252x291, 29K)

I've seen people use Windows 3.1 well into the 2000s

>support games
There's a thing called Proton, developed by Valve (it's basically just Wine and DXVK - a translation layer that translates DirectX into Vulkan - bundled together), which allows a lot of Windows games to run on Linux. Games might not run quite as fast as on Windows but they can still run very quickly. I was watching a video of GTA V running on Windows and on Linux using Proton. On Windows the benchmark had an average of around 120fps, and on Linux with Proton the average was around 100fps. Still absolutely playable though, if you're that determined to get rid of Windows.
>usability
Ubuntu is very usable for many end users. For lots of software you can just download a .deb package and not have to touch the command line.

Or if you want arguably the most user-friendly version of Linux possible, buy a Chromebook. I've never used Chrome OS but I'm pretty sure it would never require command line use. It's designed to be as usable as possible for all people.

>be wagecuck
>everyone's unit is running on Win 10 already
>my unit is still running on Win 7 because fuck you it support, I'm the local admin of this unit
How fucked am I?

You have to be a fucking idiot to recommend a Chromebook to someone wanting to get rid of Windows. You're literally replacing a botnet with an even worse botnet.

Where can I get a link for 7 POSready?

I can run Monster Hunter World just as well with Proton as it ran on windows 10 before I had enough of it (had to use 10 because lolryzen)
I mean other than the slowdown when things are loaded for the very first time(it does some kind of caching I guess), it's fine.

And honestly if you like any triple A games that have steeper requirements than monster hunter world you're probably too much of a casual pleb who can't into computer anyway and probably shouldn't use linux. Even though it's a lot better than it was, problems do pop up and problems with linux, even if they're usually solved with a few terminal commands, finding the right solution is still a motherfucker sometimes.

Fresh copypasta

>Tfw server 2008R2 gets three years of extra support on azure

Meanwhile the GOAT desktop Windows operating system gets dropped

I genuinely enjoy how some people on Jow Forums of all places are so much against tech evolving and against change of any sort. There's something hilarious about it.

Windows 8 is shit and 10 is just 8 plus 2

I'd love to see what snarky MS paint comic is made when we get to this point with 8, 10 and 10's successor. I think people unironically defending 10 now is shocking. I'll probably have a heart attack when I see how many people suck off 10 and 11 when 8 is on its deathbed.

You forgot industry standard applications.

>10's successor
>11
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Windows 10 is the last version of Windows but I guess some people do in fact live under a rock.

Windows was a product. You're the product now.

Attached: windows 10 cosplay.jpg (768x1024, 201K)

Windows is still a product, you have to pay for it. The free upgrade was only temporary. Licences for new computers have always cost money and upgrades now cost money too.

>The free upgrade was only temporary.
Achtually it's still a thing.

>booting issue
>probably has stupid set to start up with Windows
What CPU do you have?

Yeah, it's not 2000s anymore, grandpa.

Windows 7 was the "hot" friend who was besides two fat and ugly chicks.

This and I didn't have pay for activation not did I pirate anything. You can just download the ISO and install it. My laptop might have did an automatic soft activation.

Windows 10 is the zoomer OS. You're not a zoomer are you, Jow Forums?

Dunno, are 97'ers zoomers?

I know you don't have an EA so that leaves you with activation cracks. Enjoy your Russian key loggers

Attached: cb.jpg (237x213, 11K)

>you have to be commercial to contribute to malware spread on the internet

Yeah, your comment, when you say "tech evolving", truly hilarious.

Yeah

Shit, well, either way I'm still using windows 7.

I googled it and fair enough, it looks like you might be right. I didn't know this.

zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

Did you install onto a blank partition or upgrade? The link above (in this same post) shows that you can apparently upgrade to Win 10 for free, as long as the copy of Windows (7, 8, 8.1) you're upgrading is "genuine" already. But I don't know if you can install Win 10 onto a new PC and have it be activated?

I've got Win 10 on a computer but it's unactivated. It wasn't an upgrade, it was a fresh install.
