>STARTING with 24 cores >"16 cores" is now OFFICIALLY mainstream-only from here on
Where were you when AMD in less than 3 years made it so we've gone from Shitel's "4-core/8-thread mainstream" slavery, to 16-core/32-thread mainstream freedom?
Now watch them pull off equivalently the same with noVideo in just a couple years from now.
>"AMD has also announced that the initial SKUs would include a 24 core and 48 thread chip as the top variant with more chips to follow later on" Fucking speed reading retard.
Tyler Wright
"initial" means the LOWEST POSSIBLE DENOMINATOR, you dumb illiterate Intbecile toddler scrubshit faggot.

>>STARTING with 24 cores >>"16 cores" is now OFFICIALLY mainstream-only from here on
This is pretty much the first time in history when AMD is on a better node. Or am I wrong?

>Now watch them pull off equivalently the same with noVideo in just a couple years from now. That's a tall task, Intel has hardly done shit since Sandy Bridge, NVIDIA has been improving constantly and in the last few generations their lead has only kept widening. AMD hasn't made something decent in the high end since the R9 290X and even with that one they completely botched the launch with that inadequate hairdrier of a cooler on the reference model.

It was roughly 5 years ago and intel were parading there new 21 core xeons as the most cores on a chip. Thank God for amd
Easton Green
>That's a tall task 5700XT already beats 2070 and matches 2080S. Meanwhile, 5800 and 5900 Radeons are coming out soon, while nGreedia will be sitting on a worse tech-process for at least 6 months longer.
Gavin Brooks
What about single thread performance though? It's still very important.
Initial, "existing or occurring in the beginning". At FIRST its going to launch with a MAXIMUM of 24 cores as clearly stated by "top variant" and is easily understandable if you learnt how to read during childhood.
>START there's a 4 die minimum .. there not going to put some shitty die with a 50% core yield on it. My thoughts are that 24-32 cores will be quad channel.. 32+ cores will be on the 8 channel boards. I'm in for a 32 core to slot into my existing TR4 board. Better be a sensible price. Everything else can fuck off for now. Thanks for the core count doubling + properly fed ayymd
Luis Thompson
I'm gonna guess $1000-1200 for a 24 core threadripper

It was already pretty much confirmed by Lisa that THIRDRIPPER (official name inside AMD, BTW) won't have anything above 32 cores. It'll be 32 cores tops, as to not cannibalize on EBYN 2, but it's going to be much higher clocked, perfectly binned 32 cores. Basically the creamiest of the crops.
AMD wasn't on a better node then, they just had a better arch

Which is why the 32+ core count will get a different name smooth brain. WEW. Thread-ripper runs the same socket as Rome. They can do whatever they please with the core count. > But mommy su said... Shit changes all the time brainlet
yea I mean they won't be cheap for sure. compared to desktop grade processors that is. if you really want a 16 core the 3950x is the way to go, which is $750. but I mean just for perspective, intel would charge like $6000 for a 24 core part or more. the idea of it being "only" $1k is mindblowing.
Retard confirmed. Idgaf about some faggot shit in the past. I was speaking about TR which is on-topic with op. the info was accurate. I could give a fuck less who delivered it. I dont suck off e-celebs or follow their drama. I googled the terminology for the 8-channel TR board and linked to the first hit.

>going online everyday to shill amd products >getting upset when someone doesn't like amd products
that's only a single core that gets boosted that high though, all core is a fair bit lower
David Scott
Uh huh
Chase Turner
AMD has always been the MOAR CORES company though. How young are you shills? Also threadrippers are for enthusiasts which will be bought be basically a tiny % of the PC market. It's irrelevant.

What sort of speeds would be expected on all cores of the 12 core 3900?

You're free to like shitel pozzed trash products, just like scatfags are free to like literal shit.
wow coming from a 4 core 4.0 Intel chip this looks fucking beautiful... what is it that people are complaining about, that it wont reach 4.7? i get being annoyed by that but god damn that is a lot of power still.
Bentley Rogers
that's a 3800x but yeah to be honest a lot of the complaining has been nonsense, the latest patch did increase clock speeds though
the insane part of the zen 2 chips is how low the tdp is, I mean the new 9900kys already has an extremely high tdp not counting the fact that it's a 8 core and also intel uses a ridiculous low version of tdp
