My company fell for the meme and decided on Chromeboxes for flexible workspaces along with Citrix. Not very productive. Is there a way to bypass the Citrix sign-in with the Chrome OS sign in? Having to type my pass twice ten times a day is a fucking mess.

My use case? Well i dont computers for gaming anymore but i was asking because i wanted anons opinon for what they use a computer for and what they want out of an OS (more like a personal survey to help me understand the whole linux meme) sorry if i sound like a newfag

I use Linux as a hypervisor. I run Windows to play games, I use macOS for real work and I use GNU+Linux for certain testing environments.

In short: Whether or not GNU+Linux is good or not depends entirely on your case. Is GNU+Linux good for Desktop usage? Probably not, there are better alternatives out there.

if all you use your computer for is youtube facebook and porn then it doesn't even matter what OS you use

Linux because it's easier to use, easier to install, easier to troubleshoot, faster, has no DRM, has a terminal that's not as useless as cmd

No, not a meme. If it works for you and your use case it's not bad. You have to have the right hardware though, but that applies to anything.

I play games often. I keep thinking of switching but everytime I use a Linux distro I have to wrestle just to get about the same performance with -some- games, and then have nothing on another set of em. I can't undervolt my GPU either. My gamepads are also fucky in different ways, depending on which one. Personally I'd rather not have the headache if I can't have any advantage besides a cute interface I can change. I'm all for sacrificing certain things to accomplish others, but not just so I have more "privacy" or faster boot times. Yesterday I was fiddling with Ubuntu MATE and sure enough it's decent, but out of the box it's already crashing without doing anything but updating it and somehow it doesn't like my external USB hard drive, so I had to use ntfsfix when chkdsk on Windows would show no errors. I'm not gonna complain too much about this either, but the animations skip frames half of the time or don't work at all. It's 20 the fuck 19. I get MATE is not designed to be the next generation DE and compiz (the only thing that doesn't lag, stutter or tear) is probably a little dated, but come the fuck on, it's an animation. Disabling mouse acceleration is convoluted as fuck too.

Like I get it on a laptop where you don't have much else to do than browse websites and read PDF files, but it just doesn't suffice. Not a meme, just not up there for some people.
