Osama Bin Laden, the founder of Al-Qaeda was an anti-ruling family activist, and the son of a rich Saudi business owner, who didn't like SA and the US getting in bed together and playing politics in the region. The reason why he started wandering around the ME was because the ruling family of Saudi Arabia kicked him out for his activism in the late 80/early 90s in the first place. After they tried to cut off his money from his trust/family in SA, he basically found a bunch of friends and like minded saudis, as well as militants from shitholes like Pakistan to join him and form Al-Qaeda to oppose money-minded "fake" muslims like the Saudis and Christian/agnostic american and promote "true" islam.

Trying to blame the Saudi State for Al-Qaeda is like trying to blame South Vietnam for the Vietcong (who were a south vietnamese rebel group, not a north vietnamese military as commonly mistaken).
