I'm sure the men and women in Texas who now have jobs are quite pleased. While I would like to see more components manufactured in the US at least something is changing.
China has been cheating at the manufacturing game and eventually it will catch up to them as they get more wealthy. The same workers rights that the west demanded will eventually get demanded by Chinese citizens as they get wealthier, it's inevitable. At which point they will also probably offload their manufacturing to the next poorest country who don't appropriately compensate their workers.

Never gonna happen. Labor is too high. US is not competitive with the rest of the world economy. Apple is a for-profit company. It means that they don’t only compete in the product market, but also labor market. They have to make sure that people think that Apple is a great place to work. This is called employer branding. Turning their factory into a sweatshop is a dumb move for a big company filled with competent people, like Apple and any other big companies.

You must be so naive if you think that companies go green and treat their employees right only out of empathy and kindness. They don’t do it out of emotion, they do it so that they can get more money and be more profitable and invincible. A society that runs on empathy and kindness doesn’t exist and will never.
