Hitler wanted to take the oilfields, can't remember now who decided to take a turn north against the plan
Connor Diaz
i think he did. Stalingrad had stalin's name in it or some such shit.

His reasoning was based on the performance of the soviets in the finnish winter war.
Where the finnish managed quite well
Also in his talk with Mannerheim he talks about how he felt he had to strike to prevent a soviet attack. And how they destroyed 40000 tanks, which if used, would have just steamrolled over Europe.
Dominic Harris

>The Soviet military received ample funding and was innovative in its technology. An American journalist wrote in 1941:[73]
>Even in American terms the Soviet defence budget was large. In 1940 it was the equivalent of $11,000,000,000, and represented one-third of the national expenditure. Measure this against the fact that the infinitely richer United States will approximate the expenditure of that much yearly only in 1942 after two years of our greatest defence effort.
>Most of the money spent on the Red Army and Air Force went for machines of war. Twenty-three years ago when the Bolshevik revolution took place there were few machines in Russia. Marx said Communism must come in a highly industrialized society. The Bolsheviks identified their dreams of socialist happiness with machines which would multiply production and reduce hours of labour until everyone would have everything he needed and would work only as much as he wished. Somehow this has not come about, but the Russians still worship machines, and this helped make the Red Army the most highly mechanized in the world, except perhaps the German Army now.
Justin Perry
In other words, it was now or never.
David Long
No, faggot. It's because nobody bothered to note that Russia has a different gauge railroad than Europe, and Germany relied mainly on trains and trucks until they passed the frontier. After that, blitzkrieg rapidly outran supply lines and in the muddy snow melt, horses and wagons we're all that worked. Of course, Germany was dumb af for attacking when winter was a month away, and they didn't bother to see how the Soviet defensive belt was laid out. Fucking Luftwaffe, more bombers and CAS than recon. All the more evidence for this shit being planned.
Justin Miller
I was reading Mein Kampf yesterday and I came across a passage in chapter 3 where Hitler was writing about the politics of the Pan German movement. He said it's very important to not fight multiple fronts. It's a great book so far but I did see the painful irony in that statement.
It was literally the opposite. Hitler wanted an early push towards the Caucaus, it was Halder that pushed hard for and eventually went behind Hitler's back to focus on Moscow.
This "Hitler bad, generals good" meme is based on accounts by those same generals looking to save face.
Jose Garcia
All the based Germans live in South America, North America, and Switzerland.
John Parker
Just like when Manstein told Hitler not to have the sixth army break out of Stalingrad then later claimed he said to breakout.
Connor Foster
What are you talking about? Hitler wanted to go South to the oilfields, his Generals wanted to take Moscow.
Soviet logistics were all centered in Moscow so taking it would have massively disrupted supply for the Soviets.
Adam Diaz
Yep he needed oil and rubber

>LOOK IT UP, FAGGOTS He was literally a government agent (Weimar) sent to infiltrate the German Beer Drinker’s Party or whatever they called it later to become the NDSP.
Hitler wasn't oblivious to the logistical problem. The grand military plan for defeating the red army was based upon large pincer movements to capture men and machines rather than fighting a frontal war of attrition. While the germans DID capture huge amounts of men and material in the opening stages of barbarossa they didn't capture enough. The soviets quickly adapted and were able to escape encirclements as the months wore on and the war moved east. Anything of value was either destroyed in place or evacuated east out of the grasp of the encircling germans, depriving them of the much needed rolling stock and infrastructure among other things. This lack of captured material and failure to capture and destroy the red army meant the germans would only be able to advance as far as the suburbs of moscow and the war was lost in 1941.
Mason Hernandez
Wow, its almost as if commie propaganda was in full swing, even then. Tell me then, why is it that they sent boys to war with a handful a bullets and a gun for every two of them? So mechanized, so fresh, so vast and strong. Eat a dick nigger.
Noah Cook

FPBP. Look up (((who))) funded the nazi party.

In 41 both Hitler and the high command agreed for a push to Moscow. In 42, high command once again wanted to push onto Moscow but Hitler, correctly, pointed out taking the capital won't just automatically win the war and instead directed the offensive South to seize the core of Soviet industry and oil. This was called Case Blue, and Stalingrad was part of the operation.
There were oil fields further North in the caucuses. However, id agree it was a doomed offensive either way.
True, however the resources of the South would be more valuable in the context of WW2
Lmao 'I watched enemy at the gates' level of historical education. The Soviets produced more tanks in a year than Germany could throughout the war, had oil as the most readily available resource, and thanks to lend lease could easily motorise their forces.
Eli Rogers
You scared, junior? This thread probably won’t last long anyway since you’re not allowed to question the gods here. /pol is a blacked porn and demoralization board, faggot. Fuck you and the leaf too.
Jayden Robinson
You can't really fault the Germans that much, they did invade at the very best possible moment, but they assumed a bit too much from the intelligence they had and thought the soviet government would collapse as the German army approached major cities like Moscow and Leningrad. Their lack of preparation for a long war wasn't that bad of a decision, the German high command correctly assumed that a war with the soviets that lasted longer than 1-2 years would be unwinnable. Were they wrong? I would say the biggest mistake on the part of the Germans was their logistics. Logistics makes or breaks an army, something the US understood very well.
Josiah Wood
>So what, I need all my manpower to keep out death camps running

We won't really know until a large war breaks out.

user they didn't really have a choice. It was the make or break of the war.
The nazi battle strategy is a story of struggling as much as they possibly can. Pity the viper strangled it.
Carter Jenkins
Had Moscow been taken in 1941 or early 42 it would have made things easier but past that yeah the oil was more important.
Dominic Lee
So Hitler didn't really have a choice but to invade Luxembourg, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium? He had no choice but to surprise attack the USSR without the means to even reach Moscow or Baku properly? lol
Brandon Wood
they had shit intel they didn't even know of the existence of the T-34
Juan Watson
But he attacked in the summer kike. Most of Hitler's "brawls" with generals were where Hitler made more sense.
Hunter Ortiz
Hitler was a disgraceful commander in chief, easily the worst in the history of the Prussian military and perhaps all of modern military history. Made a series of terrible decisions based on LARPing. Muh triumph of the will cost Germany an entire army when Hitler refused to retreat at Stalingrad. This LARPy refusal to retreat also led to several mini Stalingrads.
Christopher Richardson
the attack on Moscow itself began in the middle of Autumn when it was getting cold already.
Isaiah Hernandez
But he beat France in 6 weeks. While it wasn't his plan he made the decision.
Michael Lopez
>he attacked in the summer kike This was completely retarded, based on Hitler's insane notion (based on nothing but ideological priors and racism against Slavs) that the Soviet Union would collapse within months.
The best time to attack would've been March 1942 as the spring was coming in.
Nicholas Hernandez
By that logic Napoleon was a bad commander as well. Russia is just immensely big, they have infinite space to retreat and regroup.
Its a bit, like they say, about beating the USA.
How can you beat such a big country? Its nothing but trouble. from one end to the other
Isaiah Nelson
too late, the Red Army was getting stronger and stronger and would be unbeatable by then, maybe even invade Europe themselves. 1941 was the last possible year for Germany to defeat USSR
Kevin Jenkins
>The best time to attack would've been March 1942 as the spring was coming in.
Hitler want to attack in the spring of 1941.
But the Italians started nonsense in Greece and he lost crucial weeks to help them out.

one thing that always surprises me is how absolutely shit the Germans are at intelligence and espionage (in both World Wars) while the UK is absolutely godly at it. Is it the perfidious anglo mind?
Julian Long
There is no evidence an attack was imminent. There is evidence that the USSR hoped to invade Europe at some point after the Nazis were sufficiently weakened. But zero evidence that invasion was imminent at the time of Barbarossa. No one buys the Icebreaker hypothesis at this point.
But even if you're right, the much smarter thing to do would've been to fight a defensive war in Germany. The Wehrmacht was much more powerful on a man to man basis than the red army; and we forget that the Luftwaffe was also the premier airforce before Barbarossa. Without the problems of logistics and weather the Wehrmacht, fighting a defensive war, would've destroyed any invasion from Russia.
A preemptive sneak attack is a retarded idea in such a big country.
Levi Flores
Napoleon was actually a brilliant strategist and the times were different. In his times the army was mostly able to forage off the land because they were much fewer in number in WW2, that's how Napoleon's army sustained itself on the campaigns. In Napoleon's time it was still normal to sue for peace early because conscription and total war wasn't a thing and States would go bust easier. Napoleon was expecting the Tsar to make peace and he waited.
At least Hitler and his advisors had Napoleon's mistaskes to learn off, which they were very well aware of and everyone had copies of 1812 by the time the battle of moscow started.
Lucas Garcia
Yeah, I never said it was anything to poke fun at. I just found it terribly ironic and made me sad when I read it. Hitler was the good guy

Hitler committed genocide against Slavs. Don't buy into the mutt memes about how he was a white nationalist.
If you're reading Mein Kampf you'll see Hitler's racism against the Slavs soon enough. It's littered throughout his recollections of Vienna and a chapter (14) is devoted to his plans to colonize Russia for racist reasons.
Aiden Young
meme image.
There were 500 camps in total, but only 6 were exclusively extermination camps and they were built in East Europe because that's where most of the Jews were by far
As to the camps mistaken as extermination camps, please actually look them up they all had 25-50% of the prison population die from starvation and typhus from poor conditions. They will obviously get mistaken for extermination camps when that much of the population dies
Jonathan Richardson

"The genocides claimed the lives of 2.7 to 2.9 million Polish Jews and 1.8 to 2.77 million non-Jewish ethnic Poles, according to the Polish government-affiliated Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and various academics.[a] These extremely large death tolls, and the absence of substantial civilian deaths among non-Jews in "racially superior" occupied countries such as Denmark and France, attest to the genocidal policies directed against the Poles."
"Maintain the purity of German blood! That applies to both men and women! Just as it is considered the greatest disgrace to become involved with a Jew, any German engaging in intimate relations with a Polish male or female is guilty of sinful behavior. Despise the bestial urges of this race! Be racially conscious and protect your children. Otherwise you will forfeit your greatest asset: your honor!" - Anti-Polish decree publicly published by the Nazis in the General Government.
"I have issued the command — and I'll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by firing squad — that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy. Accordingly I have placed my Totenkopf Units in readiness — for the present only in the East — with orders to them to send to death, mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish race and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?" — Adolf Hitler. "All Poles will disappear from the world.... It is essential that the great German people should consider it their major task to destroy all Poles." — Heinrich Himmler.
"[Poles are] more animals than human beings." - Goebbels
"It must become clear to everybody in Germany, even to the last milkmaid, that Polishness is equal to sub-humanity. Poles, Jews and Gypsies are on the same inferior level. This must be clearly outlined [...] until every citizen of Germany has it encoded in his subconsciousness that every Pole, whether a worker or intellectual, should be treated like vermin". — A directive No. 1306 by Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda from October 24th 1939.
Lucas Morris
Hitler was a Rothschild agent. I don't remember the name of the guy but he was Dutch and he used to meet with Hitler and carry his messages to Britain before the NSDAP was even formed. I wish I could remember the guy's name, he's the only person you need to know of to understand WW2. Anyone know who I'm talking about?
Kevin Adams
By that logic. What are you doing in Australia?
Jeremiah Thomas
The Nazis also let rich Jews go if they paid bribes (eg. Rothschilds) but then sent all the poor innocent Jews in the ghettos and isolated villages who unironically dindu nuffin to their deaths

So he started a war he couldn't win, ruining the entire Europe in the process, just to prevent Russians from taking over Europe. Wow. The eternal kraut is at it again, "if I cant rule Europe, NOONE will!", right. Why do you have to ruin everything all the time, kraut, why?
Blake Carter
There are a big number of Poles in Germany.
Who also fought in the Wehrmacht.

What war couldn't he win? You mean the war with Russia? He beat France quite handely.
Attacking Stalin was probably his most popular decision. Who liked the guy?
Connor Anderson
what has that to do with Hitler being a bad guy
Robert Green
They repair the railroad to use no retard gommie width rails. While obviously the front was overextended causing a lack of supply, a slightly higher investment in fbd would have solved it.

You're all wrong niggers. Stalin was preparing to attack Germany, he played old Adolf. Once they figured out what was transpiring, they preemptively attacked, having no other choice
