Ok. The Fedorov Avtomat is a weapon ahead of its time made by Vladimir Grigoryevich Fyodorov in 1915 originally developed to be an intermediate between light machine guns and rifles. The weapon was originally inspired by the French chauchat lmg with its detachable box magazine and incredible mobility for walking fire.
Designed to fire the 6.5mm experimental Fedorov round the Russians decided to use the Japanese 6.5x50mmSR Arisaka due to the abundance of ammunition. The 6.5mm Fedorov round would be scrapped and only 3,200 of these rifles would be produced between 1915 and 1925.
Getting your hands on one of these exceptional rifles at the time would've been like holding the future as even though the STG 44 is credited with being the first assault rifle platform with a select fire switch, detachable box magazine and an intermediate round the Fedorov Avtomat was actually the first weapon of its kind to meet what we now consider to be an assault rifle.
In conclusion the Fedorov Avtomat was an exceptional weapon made during a time of great innovation much like most of the technology of the era but muh like those same technologies was slowly forgotten due to the obscurity of the innovation.
