shogun 2's realm divide mechanic ruined it though

Just start with EU4 Ottomans/Castille and put in the 40 hours for a full first run, but you will get the gist in half a day. It's not hard, just complex, and once you have the basics down it's really just minor tricks to learn.
Don't worry, I know way dumber people than you probably are that managed to learn it.

There is an ingame tutorial for the basic controls, from then on its playing a strong country on very easy, reading the wiki guide and maybe watching some youtubers (reman, or arumba for a start, they play slow as fuck though, then move on to florryworry)
Nah, high IQ would be hoi 3 or aurora 4x but those are just tedium for the sake of it
