There's nothing genious about counting on sheer luck.
You need the experience to know what's reliable, proficient and effective. Going blind into things you think are easy yet important will not only make your life so much stressful, it will make you prone to everybody elses opinion - without their knowledge, you are to be tossed on a storm without any means of steering.
Your boat might be the fastest, but it will only make you crash into the rocks so qucikly, that it won't even be spectacular for other to learn from.
Heck man, are you sure it was just the light that couldn't help you focus? Maybe there were some shadows on your pages, or peripheral vision had much more to take care of in a lively and bright environment.
It reminds me of those people, who instantly sneeze after being exposed to bright light~

Nah it wasn't a one time thing it didn't differ between reading books and loose papers i generally can't focus while doing anything in a bright light *it feels weird*
