Sounds like all my steam games would stop working. Only moved away from windows to quit porn and have no idea how to change the hosts file to bring my porn back. Is it easy to get used too?

yeah games not working is one of the things i'm afraid about
idk if it's easy to get used to i haven't installed it yet but so far the installation process hasn't been very difficult just a lot of commands to enter.
i'm also going to start using dwm at the same time which will be my first experience using a wm full-time so that should be nice

it's a WM, or window manager, which basically all gnu/linux desktop systems have but most users also have a desktop environment installed over them, like GNOME, KDE, or in your case Cinnamon, which provides more visual features and is designed to be used with the mouse. if you want you can install only a wm without a desktop environment which is much more minimal but users who prefer to just use the keyboard for most things might find it more productive. the most commonly used standalone wm that people use is i3, but in dwm it's even more minimal because it doesn't read off of a config file so you have to recompile it every time you want to make a change

Would I have to learn all the terminal commands? Been using computers for over 20 years now so I can feel a little RSI in my index finger

not all of them, you can still use GUI programs but when using a wm you should try to use CLI programs when you can because otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose. you'll probably end up never having to use most of the built-in gnu commands but you should at least have a basic grasp of using the terminal before you dive into a wm
