What was life like before 2000?

I wasn't allowed to use the Internet and played the same few DOS games over and over. Cartoons were pretty good.

Life was slow and you had only a couple options for entertainment learning, working or socializing and back then to socialize you had to call a motherfucker or spill to the niggas house.
It was nice. Everyone was much more connected than now which is ironic.

Life was fun building your internet, though. Not just wired internets, but cellular data network technology had major breakthroughs in RF antenna design as well as robust protocols such as UMTS and WCDMA. The forerunners of today’s 4G+ network. I did my bit. While working in R&D with a dedicated microwave minilink to a nearby university backbone at a staggering 34megabits, plus the corporate link over wire. it was great for doing all sorts of experiments. Workers desktops weren’t smart, they were thin clients running off big servers in the datacenters, big Sun, VAX and Tandem machines, as well as FOSS and some other custom built systems. Netscape Navigator 4.0 was about as advanced as it got, the HTML standard was nothing like today and so interactive content was non-existent except for some cleverly hacked together systems, especially in the entertainment sector with MUDD and various dungeon games via web browser.
