For the appreciation of pre-modern art and the discussion of art in general. Modern art allowed under the circumstance of discussion. That is to say art of all contextual categories: music, painting, sculpting, photography, literature, etc.
I shall start the discussion with a focus on modernity and its representation within art. Carl Jung the famed psychologist who supposed that art was the representation of mans collective unconscious state. Whether true in a metaphysical sense or a social one it needn't matter for Jung himself never clarified. That art could both represent the current psychological state of man as well as predict certain psychic events within mans collective unconscious. Just as the dreams of an old man often warn of his death. And within modern art I cannot think of one central uniting principle other than this: The disintegration and destruction of man - (inferring the individual) within art by the destruction of beauty. This destruction itself comes in many a shape such as the absorption of the individual into the background, common household items or typically un-human things within surrealism or the nothingness of abstract expressionism. Though many a shape I shall say as example, so commonly the simplification of form. Man has caused the death of God as Nietzsche and Hegel put it and it is plane to see on script or canvas.
Man has caused the death of God as Nietzsche and Hegel put it and it is plane to see on script or canvas. I were going to further extrapolate this point of the simplification of form yet it leads into a long area indeed and I would not feel right telling my entire artistic philosophy so easily - you shall have to wait to its publishing. This rejection of beauty is the rejection of art, for art is nothing other than that of beauty appreciated. And do not mistake beauty for the Good, for there is also equally Beauty for the Evil or rather for Suffering. Just as there exist the frolicking nymphs there also exists the sacred hanging. For what is beauty? And what is beauty appreciated which makes it art? Naturally that of the greatest beauty - Tragedy - would be that of the greatest art. For beauty gives to ourselves a Psychological recursion, It lends its self back to the Psyche, it gives itself purpose. And this is why I consider beauty the fundamental of art; for take the murder as previously stated, it may represent some benefit to man, some sacredness - while in the case of something so degenerating. As those who blaspheme against the little ones it is of far too pessimistic a nature to offer upon itself a call to the greater or to the better. And so art is no longer beauty, and so is no longer art. Whether the extreme mundane or the extreme Evil - It cannot be art. And so man is trapped within a world without beauty, a world without value for he lacks it - he is only a number among a collective, among a universe. He feels as if he has lost all value for he has lost a part of himself. The greatest part of himself which was the symbol of all that is whole and good within this world, and that was God. Without this value he is dead.
And you may say "but man is not depicted among that of all modern art" and you would be wrong, for it is no matter still that of the emotive and so a part of man. No longer is art the depiction of mans emotive destruction, it is now the depiction of his remains in a lifeless society with such monumental idiocy as the black square.
As Wagner, the greatest artistic genius to ever of lived said as his final words
For it was Carl Gustav Jung who himself was for the Third Reich comparing Hitler to Wotan by his archetypal 'possession' of the Germanic peoples (of course in the psychological sense): volkischpaganism.com/2014/10/08/carl-jung-on-hitler-as-personification-of-the-wotan-archetype/ . As Jung stated art was the representation of the collective unconscious of man which in turn leads itself forth into Jung's theory's on racial memory and the many varying collective memory's and groupings which make up this collective half of the psyche - that is the other half being subconscious, ego, persona, etc the personal and traits un-shared universally.
This collective unconscious Jung thought was that which was inherited. Jung talked very coy on the exact nature on the mind yet especially on the exact nature of the collective unconscious for he did not wish to assert it as a set biological innate alone and only change within that of the social, nor did he wish to assert it as a metaphysical "soul" (if you will) for varying reasons on his part.
ithin the collective unconscious an array of instinct and archetype and all within the two. Archetype being the advanced extension of basic instinctual drives such as "the young adventure" - a broad archetype - which itself is the advanced figurative representation of what we might say is the desire for individual achievement. A culmination of instinct just as instinct is a part of an archetype. Figurative is key for the archetypal representation say of the knight for the "hero" is a subjective image in which the subconscious of oneself creates. The archetypes are nothing other than the highly complex emotive which can only be represented by its given form hence the represented by the human form for oft there is nothing which is of complex enough nature to represent such complexity itself.
Art which forgoes the archetypal imagery for the base instinctual responses to "bright colour" and such just as every other object is art none at all.
Richard Wagner the greatest artistic genius to ever of breathed the air of man. For Wagner shall always be the total peak of all Western art, culture and music in general - The Third Reich was the last continuation of this Aryan spirit birthed forth from a reactionary nature.
Keep in mind the predominant number of Wagner's music was not intended to be heard alone, rather as a culmination of the arts yet so much more. Hence the reason for my supplying of preludes alone. Wagner's immensity in genius cannot be understated - how he magnificently wrote his music, his libretto, his poetry of both sound, vision and ideal. All with psyche in mind, to have a philosophical and psychological undercurrent still debated upon today. Look to the leitmotif or Tristan cord as example. Now a piano transcription of Wagner's music by Liszt his great friend and whom Wagner was a son in law to.
Hitler himself and the Third Reich were both inspired by and based themselves upon Wagnerian aesthetics - to such a degree it may be said the latter Reich would not of existed without him. Aesthetic's not alone of the senses but of the ideal - the the ideal of the Aryan both of the masculine and the feminine, the ideal of the Machiavellian jew. All presented in the art of Opera yet only a grain of sand in comparison to so much more which is present. And the sacred as the core within the Wagnerian for it is what truly assert life and man pertaining within that duality a reciprocative element of constant flux.
Wagner's philosophy and so art influenced by the entirety of Aryan culture and history - as the culmination of it - yet astoundingly by many of the 19th century philosophers of Germany in his day. Primarily the great men known as the German Idealists. Although influenced by all and by all great men he is most famously known (though no more influenced than by the others) as an admirer and follower of the pessimist Arthur Schopenhauer's writings. A statement that shall be better understood by the knowing of Richard Wagner's struggle with depression throughout his life.
"My King, I am not well: life has become a burden for me, and my artistic labours are far from easy. The whole effort, moreover, of reviving so strange a work as Tristan has left me very tired. What depresses me is not the malice of the world -- but the extreme difficulty of working effectively and creatively, so that I feel like a stranger, almost like a fool, in this world of ours, and in this century." Munich, 5 July 1865, to King Ludwig II of Bavaria
Frequently telling Liszt that he had wished to die. Wagner's last known words being:
And here is an extremely rare daguerreotype of Richard Wagner on the right from 1844. The painting on the left dating to 1833. The photo is of such rarity it has not even been officially recognised.
Bertel Thorvaldsen many consider to be one of the greatest if not the greatest sculptor. For sculpting is not the aim of total realism but the artistic effect as is the same of all art.
As explained further within this video on art by the Schopenhauerian (and partially Wagnerian) aesthetic: youtube.com/watch?v=4FPdrLlshRA
A video very worth your watching. Though I do not agree with Schopenhauer's pessimistic philosophy as a whole there it most certainly pertains within itself a greater truth both applied to art and life.
Going to have a short break from posting, some other anons seem to be taking over so that's good. I shall return soon - it's a holiday from the captchas getting hard as hell.
why the fuck did the mods move the thread Jow Forums needs some goddamn culture

Jason Thompson
I know right, what the utter fuck. One thread is permitted about the board per board. And art threads are always tolerated - what the fuck. No one comes to this fucking shit hole of a board. Fuck I hate Jannies. I'm not going to forgive this.
Jonathan Smith
It's not off topic faggot and how do Jow Forumsacks know to come here? Am I going to shill my fucking thread all over Jow Forums?
Adam Robinson
noone comes here its a dead board basically and the parts that arent dead are complete utter trash. why the fuck do you think an art thread belongs on Jow Forums?
Christopher Kelly

Connor Butler

Mason Ross
>(((jannies))) will have race bait threads and is x white threads up, but when it comes to anything good it gets moved here? Yea fucking exactly, the amount of good threads I have made that have been sent to fucking to this fucking literal cumdumster of a fucking board. A high culture art thread has to tolerate fucking porn ads. FUCKING PORN ADS MAN!!! AND THE FUCKING PORN ADS WITH THE GIRL THAT LOOKS LIKE JAZZ JENNINGS AT THAT!!!!!!
>Bro almost everyone on Jow Forums hates you, hates imptrash threads. I have become a newfag in this moment - after all these years - I never learnt what imptrash is. Please explain user it would be greatly appreciated.

>Yea fucking exactly, the amount of good threads I have made that have been sent to fucking to this fucking literal cumdumster of a fucking board. What kind of threads, /sig/? Also get adblock nigger. >I never learnt what imptrash is. Please explain user it would be greatly appreciated. Imported threads from Jow Forums or Jow Forums. i.e redpilled haircuts threads or is x white threads? leafnigger hey leafnigger nobody cares about this shit board leafnigger

>What kind of threads, /sig/? Also get adblock nigger. Yea /sig/, healthy eating, other art threads, philosophy, history, etc. Fuck I hate jannies. And no adblock fucks over my ability to use certain "necessary" websites. To be clear I'm not talking about porn.
>Imported threads from Jow Forums or Jow Forums. i.e redpilled haircuts threads or is x white threads? Bu..but this isn't imptrash.
Aiden Morris
When you get banned for posting off-topic things on Jow Forums, the message will tell you that Jow Forums is for such things.
Zachary Reed
>inhabit a dumpster >complain when someone throws shit in it
Modniggers must think that /sig/, healthy eating, and art threads are not political but the shill threads are. Have you tried to post /sig/ threads to Jow Forums or /lit/? But it's home.
Stop sucking Jannie dick you pumped up faggot. No one likes Jannie's and this is why. Each board becomes a community you faggot besides it's allowed one thread about the board per board at the very least and that's a rule. Couldn't they of at least sent it to /ic/ as cringe as it may be at times at least they still post and talk on art (modern and not) and is an actual living thriving board - unlike /b/ which is dead. Seriously why wouldn't they move it to /b/?
Indeed, if only it were that simple. A bunch of faggots on this site came here in their original search for porn. And /b/ being the total mix of fame, normies, porn browsers, and just the autists of Jow Forums and then also being a ded board makes almost all fucking autists.
Carson Sanchez
>Modniggers must think that /sig/, healthy eating, and art threads are not political but the shill threads are. But the thing is art still relates to politics to the extreme also considering my philosophical talking on art. Secondly Jow Forums isn't just a board for straight politics otherwise it would just be a specified /news/ and thirdly mods and jannies are blacked.com watchers so they enjoy it. And no I haven't tried that but I doubt /lit/ would accept it - I will try Jow Forums/ some time,
Owen Ward
There's always a /sig/ thread. From a sticky thread on Jow Forums. about some anime. vocaroo.com/i/s0mvKHRo4DpO
Andrew Long
I heard on 8ch*n that mods are pedos.
Jeremiah Fisher
Cheers user, I just hope art threads and Jow Forums can work together some day.
Jaxon Cook

Noah Nelson

Jaxon Roberts

In Jow Forums or Jow Forums? He sounded familiar before I honest don't know.
Isaiah Gutierrez
By far his funniest thread was the chart thread on /lit/ where someone criticised the reading list part 1 and 2 which - the one everyone has seen.
Logan Roberts
>In Jow Forums or Jow Forums? Preferably both but please stay on bant also.
Gavin Lee
>He sounded familiar before I honest don't know. > I remember someone stating he was the Bill Burr of Jow Forums once, his voice is quite different though.
Robert Ortiz
What thread? Lonely? Him?
Justin Davis
Bertel Thorvaldsen's breakout piece - revolutionary in its day and retains an artistic masterpiece of the highest quality.
