i actually didn't know about that comic in particular, but "i hate my wife" and "dang kids with their technology" are pretty quintessential boom
it's a very hard game unless you want to resort to finding the hard counter to every single encounter which doesn't seem all that fulfilling

no, i don't feel like doing that at all.
also i don't like grinding and having to spend 10 minutes picking off enemies one by one to thin out a group, only to take 5 more steps and encounter another group + mini boss i have to do the same thing for. of course the mini boss will kill me on the first try and i'll have to do it again.
fighting feels fun and looks cool as hell, and the game's style is pretty sweet otherwise but i guess i'm just not gud.
guess i'll just install a boomer game like hitman or total war: three chinkdoms

yeah i agree that's one of the worst parts about the game. dark souls has the benefit of fog gates that deaggro non-boss mobs when you enter a boss arena, so as long as you can get to the boss you don't actually have to kill anything. in sekiro the closest thing you can do is to try and find sneaky spots to hide past certain enemies aggro leashes

they really are. the nice thing is that you get invincibility frames when going through them in 1 and 3, so as long as you can get to it you're in the clear. in 2 enemies can just kill you while you're entering the arena unfortunately

probably not. dark souls and sekiro are very different games to be honest. they have similar design philosophies and obfuscated story, but they're both sort of "combat first" games and the combat is really different. dark souls is more about dodging around and waiting to get your hits in relative to sekiro which is specifically about keeping up pressure and relying on much tighter windows for avoiding damage.
either way i'd very highly recommend it if you liked everything about sekiro except the combat. there's a good chance you'll like all the same stuff about dark souls and the combat is barely comparable. i'd say go with 3 since 1 is a lot less inviting than the others and 2 is kind of a weird black sheep

maybe i'll try dark souls then, if hitman runs too poorly. honestly it turns out not having an ssd has been a huge bottleneck for me, because i've tried a few games that i thought would be unplayable on this pc and they ran just fine. amazing what a quality of life improvement it has been. i don't know if i'm imagining it, or if i really hated the long loading times enough to trick myself into thinking that the game was unplayable but it has been great.
well, we'll see how i feel later. gotta run to the store now.
