Does your country have a national dish?

How important is your national dish to you societal, political and cultural identity?

Haha.

I’m currently visiting the USA as an Italian tourist and I must say that America has the most dysfunctional food culture I have ever seen.
This hotel lobby I’m staying in has free 500+ kcal donuts for the guests’ enjoyment, I have seen people grabbing 2 or 3 of them at time.
Portions are abnormally large, they could feed an entire army with them.
Everything is sugared with fucking corn syrup and fucking amerilards can’t avoid putting large amounts of sauce on everything, especially if the dish is already fried or hyper caloric.
Btw it’s pasta for Italy.

We have sausage too.

I love american food, not unironically either.

I love getting pulled pork, rack of beef, fries.. that cajun food, the asian fusion and mexian food. American food is great. I really enjoy eating to excess though. Feeling like you will be sick kind of thing. I'd be so fat if I was American.

It's nothing to do with having many Indians here it's because we owned India and changed their food into a way we liked it ourselves. Hardly an embarrassment lol

pierogi or as we taiwanese call them; 水餃

How you make your roast beef? I have 2 pounds of Brazilian roastbeef in the fridge that need to be prepared for tomorrow. I was just about to make them as a mustard-red wine-carrots schnitzel slow cook with pasta. But maybe I don’t slice it up?

As a Paddy I need to know, how do you make those potato balls? They are delicious.

All countries in Europe have practically the same "national dishes" and the distinctions between them are fake, since they were historically in empires that were basically a mini-EU in and of itself, and everything cultural was shared between the nations in them - same goes for architecture, music, literature, philosophy etc.

You would have to go way further back in history to discover true national dishes, and they'd be pretty damn disgusting.

food was introduced to europe by portuguese and dutch settlers from taiwan after 1640.

This is true. It is similar to hamburgers in the sense that even though it was invented in another country it was perfected in America.

The rest of America doesn't know about food

For me, it's halusky (not US I wish we had more)

Well, the ketchup and mustard have high fructose syrup in them, so it’s part of the national dish.

I'll go with this lovely dessert from my home state.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm even Brazilian.

I fucking hate Brazilian food.

that looks amazing.

Eating haggis, drinking whisky, wearing a kilt on Burns night. Comfy country.

It is. Great "stuff yourself until you sweat and almost pass out" dish. Tourists eat it in summer and literally feel sick.
Also, coq au vin. Wine cock kek

did you forget to pay your meat tax to combat global warming?

and you calling them sea bugs should tell you everything you germans know about food

crabs are way too much work, needing clamps and shit

you just do this by hand and it tastes way better

bbc

brazilian food is as distinct as the region you visit.
you have to be a faggot to not love the absolute variety available to you.

Are you one of those zoomer retards that only eats sushi?

We have a national gastronomy considered world heritage. There is not a single place without a local specialty. Most importantly, the whole world either envy us or try to find auto confirmation arguments to pretend their shitty national dish is better like:
> Muh pasta with cheese is true family cuisine
> Muh burger is better cause it's bigger
> Muh French cuisine is spiceless because whitey is weak
To all of them, see pic related.
