I used to play so many MMOs, I remember when Aion came out it was so exciting. Now I find it hard to not only play MMOs but any game.

I'm actually been sitting here staring at my steam for the last hour trying to figure out what I want to play. It's sad I just can't bring myself to do it anymore.

I'm familiar with the gaming industry a little. I can tell you that the real problem is that the really skilled devs and artists closely guard their talents and never teach others because they know that if they teach their algorithms and pipelines to others then they will have more competition.

So there is a vicious cycle wherein only the trash devs become teachers because they can't succeed in the industry using their own inferior skills. So it's bad teachers teaching the younger generation. The trope of "those who can't do, teach" is true.

As someone who doesn't give that much of a shit about the mechanics changes, I joined for the new expansion a year ago, enjoyed the nostalgia trip the older zones gave me, got my fix.
