Ultimately, it's about mindfulness. Mindfulness is an insanely important tool that helps you not be a faggot npc or an impulsive retard. It's also about learning not to judge your thoughts, so you don't get stuck on stupid bullshit.
It trains you, over time, to block out absolute faggotry and unnecessary time wasters. It allows you to notice when you do things, when you think certain things, and ask the all important question: "why am I rapping to tranny porn?".

It's kind of like yoga in that it has real benefits if you do it solely for its practical applications of clearing your mind, reducing stress, and drawing your attention to things at hand. Stay away from the spiritual bullshit and bowing to buddha statues or chanting things you don't even understand. Even just practicing for 10 minutes before bed on solely the present moment will help you if you're the kind of person that runs through all the bullshit in your life when you first try to sleep.

There's a lot that can be said about it I guess, but I'd take a light approach to it, some don't have a need for it. some do, depends on how your life is structured.
But I see many people where I think it would help them especially with how fragmented our information intake is these days.

I would definitely say there's an accumulative effect if you persist in it over time too, I did each day for around two months or so I guess, and it was a very special time, hard to describe since it's so personally abstract, but I felt like a fragile bridge had been built to my subconscious, I was more aware of its stirrings just generally.
Been more on and off recently, and that's not as optimal.

This is true to an extent. If you solely focus on just your muscles and breathing and really try to feel every ounce of strength you have you can have some damn good lifts. Also useful for being mindful of your form.

Been meditating for about two years now. I highly recommend it, but it’s hard to say why. Long story short: it changes your relationship with everything, especially all of the things you take to be yourself. You won’t get much out of it though unless you’ve got a solid ethical foundation though, so keep that in mind.

it's just existing, not being active and it's weird that we have to teach people how to think about nothing for ten minutes a day. meditation is healthy and a good technique to find calm in tense situations, mindfulness is the easiest version to learn

meditation is fantastic. but there's a lot of idiots who do it for terrible reasons and don't get it and talk about superfluous reasons for it.

The key of meditation is to exercise your brain so that you can shut out the ego and the voice in your head that can be quite unhelpful. Shutting up the ego actually also makes you feel pretty good at times. It can also help if you're under a lot of stress or you need to focus. I find that when I'm having trouble sleeping I just block out my inner thoughts and i'll be in a deep sleep in no time.

Consider that prayer is a form of meditation too, but it usually does have an active ego component so its not perfect.

Also its really funny when you actually finally understand that inner peace meme. Like it really is just that simple.

It's possible to enter extremely interesting altered states of awareness. I myself have been able to slip into dreams without a lapse in consciousness a few times. I have also had a neat experience with the void-state and 360° awareness.

It's good for training your awareness, reflecting, and I can't comment much on the spiritual side besides an experience or two.

It "works", meaning that you can reach a unique mental state that is distinct from sleep, ordinary wakfulness, etc. 99% of people who practice it don't do it properly and never enter the meditative state. They're even trying to get kids to do it in school, which is laughable and shows they know nothing about meditation.

There is no task that has to be completed just because it's in a process of happening. Every issue in life is tackled at its appropriate moment in time. Leaving something in a state of incompleteness to interact with something else could be more productive than silencing that multitasking through stages.

another key to meditation is breathing properly, most people don't. there are obvious benefits to many historically tried and trues practices like meditations, yoga, breathing exercises, and pretty much any kind of rest/exercise is good for your body and mind. is it all secret magical religious stuff? nope. just ancient medicine and biology.

But thinking about the fed without actually planning anything to fix it is a waste of time.

Use the ego when it is necessary the 10% of the time it is usful, working out a problem, planning future actions etc. but know when to recognize when those thoughts are useful and when they are getting in the way of what you have to do. A non argument since making a bench and making dinner are usually task that you do at an appropriate time and should tackle in the moment. And if you're making a bench how can thinking about anything else in that moment help, most of the ideas you have at that time will probably be lost as your attention shifts back and forth between ideas, the whole point is focusing on the here and now of what needs to be done and those two examples have task that need to be done here and now.

The point is that there's a time and place for planning and action whether its feeding yourself or ensuring the existence of our people and a future for our children.

Thinking about problems is fine, but only thinking of problems but never acting out solutions leads to depression and helplessness.
