Candlesticks are all about reading the markets
Lets think about what is actually happening in the case of a hammer:
>bears are in control of the market the last few time periods
>bears try to push the market down again but are met with harsh resistance from bulls as people buy/take profits.
>Bulls push the market just out of a red close but leave a long wick of where the bears tried to advance but failed. pushing the candle just into the green
The next candle tells you if it was legit or not
>another strong green candle represents the previous point as resistance and will attempt to move up from there giving the bulls control
