That depends. What is the time, cost, and scope constraints?

You could make an erc20 token that works like a gift cards. Take a movie theater for example, you could send someone 2 tokens worth roughly 20$ which are only redeemable at the theater.
Could also digitize Chuck e cheese tokens
Time and money are no object in this, but as for scope I was thinking more music-centric.
more or less trying to think up a general idea or platform to start with.
probably something gambling related. digital media will never make it on the blockchain or any crypto platform when a superior p2p technology exists for decentralized sharing of content for free: torrenting.
why the fuck would anyone pay for shit when they can torrent it?
>then get the industry to exclusively put it on the blockchain
someone will just buy it and seed it for others like everything else
I’m convinced crypto will somehow resurrect the music industry. It’s an industry plagued by excessively rich middlemen who feed off artists who are kept penniless. Crypto is designed to eliminate the need for these relationships. Not sure exactly how yet, but the ingredients are all there.
What if seeders got paid in eth
I was also thinking something like tokenized assets instead of record deals, but I don't know how it'd specifically work and feel like it would be rife with exit scams.
i'll pay some eth for a copy and seed it for free to everyone else
Why seed for free tho
The payment would be incentive so you don't rely on people giving away stuff
Who is supplying the ETH?
TOO FAR childpornchain TOO FAR
Some torrent site are subscription based so the site I suppose
Dude. I’m a big music guy and have been thinking about this nonstop. I’ve been noodling with a decentralized music sharing idea- kind of like Steemit meets Hype Machine. Don’t want to give out all the details of it but there’s something there. I think we’ll start to see new economic models like Steemit pop up once EOS launches, since it is a standard DPOS blockchain that can host Steemit clones.
What have you been thinking of?
Why not allocate it from the inflationary supply like Steemit? I love thinking about the new economic models crypto can offer!
I'm a producer/manager for some local acts, and this is mainly about decentralizing power in the industry.
For those of you who aren't involved in the music biz at all, you don't get to do fucking anything except local bar shows and low end clubs without knowing high level execs at a big labels or high level marketing cucks.
Some small venue shows you make literally $0, or even end up having to pay the owner at the end of everything
i had this idea awhile back, which works with any creative content, so of course is also defeated by torrenting. see say it's some crypto called artistcoin. sell coins before the release of an album. on the release date, one coin buys one copy of the album. sell a limited amount so that once the coins are sold out, if the artist has enough hype, the coins price will rise.
big fans will buy multiple coins at the beginning because they believe the price will go up, and they can sell their extra coins for profit.
if the album rollout is good, the coin price should spike with each single that's released before the album.
if the album turns out to be shit from bad reviews, then the price will drop.
every album the artist releases is purchasable with 1 artistcoin, no matter when it was bought. with each new album, new supply of artistcoins will be created and sold. big fans will buy coins for long term.
perhaps one solution to torrenting could be that the artistcoin purchases something exclusive. physical copies are only purchasable through the crypto platform, or they're way cheaper than conventional purchase, or something to do with streaming.
i guess this is just decentralized patreon, which i think already exists.
because i can.
why do people buy bluray dvds, rip to 1080p, and torrent movies for free? i would never do that, but i sure as hell appreciate those people who do.
jk i know why. they can run a site to illegaly host content for free and reap ad revenue. basically turning a one-time purchase into passive income. i remember way before crypto i fantasized about running one of those megavideo projectfreetv watchseries gomovies type schemes. holy shit wait a second. why the fuck isn't there a piratebay/BAT type scheme? I'm gonna make it, if anyone wants to coauthor a whitepaper right here on Jow Forums LETS FUCKING DO THIS
torrenting took the power away from the industry.
social media (read: soundcloud) gave it to the kids.
artists have been blowing up independently without crypto since fucking soulja boy.
I fuckin like it
Also, this might be doable right now actually
>soundcloud/pandora/spotify
>instead of ads, non-paying listeners mine SpotiCoin or SoundCoin or Pandorum for you for 5 or 10 seconds.
>big artists can pay a premium for their playlists or the playlists of artists THEY have signed to mine their specific coin (Ex. Drake has all OVO artist's music mine OVOcoin for a month in exchange for a few ETH or BTC)
Interesting idea. Are you familiar with how Steem payments work? What if instead of a BAT like coin where you have to send to someone for hosting content, the content host automatically received a proportion of the token inflation supply. Maybe have the total torrent count in a time period determine how much of the new token supply they receive? I think the next wave of dapps will utilize the Steem/Everipedia style funding mechanism.
This makes me think- Is it possible to create a decentralized Spotify utilizing existing torrent files to stream? Maybe even use the RapGenius/Everipedia token model to incentivize people to ensure linked torrents are properly seeded (or seed themselves) and are actually what the torrent claims to be?
Fuck... is this CryptoNapster?
I feel like CryptoNapster users would get utterly annihilated and made examples of if ever caught though.
good ideas all around. so in a nutshell: artist seeds content, but the only way to leech is to spend coins. you can buy the coin or you can mine the coin to listen for free. mining involves the usual calculating transactions, and also seeds the content for more rewards if they own a copy of the content.
i actually haven't looked into steem that much, but i'll check it out.
btw is anyone forreal tryna build this? i'm a grad student in ece, and i seriously wanna tackle this, at least for the moment.
I keep a rolodex full of billion-dollar ideas I can devote my entire existence to if ever my life falls apart.
If any particular idea is particularly promising, I might actually take steps to make the shit happen.
How different can it be than downloading existing torrents? It's actually just adding a better UI to music torrents and incentivizing its organization.
The more I think about it though I don't think the goal should be finding another way to pirate music. I'd be more interested in finding a way to help up and coming artists get out there and actually get paid something for it.
fuck off trip fag
aite let's do this. you on github?
Movies cost a shit ton of money, almost all need investors. Invest in dope movie, smart contract for % return...profit. Very simple. BlockBurner coin, or whatever, buy tokens, spec percentage, match with available movies, choose Tits on Uranus, win big, be star, devolop avtaste for underage and non consensual sex...there you are.
I'm absolutely enthralled with the idea of decentralized music. There have been a lot of good ideas shared in this thread so far, I'm sure some variation of it could work.
I begged my dev friend to cofound a project with me but he is too busy to take on the challenge, despite being very interested himself. Anyone here a developer and interested in decentralizing music?
Oh ECE... lol.
i'm a pretty solid developer with two good schools on my resume. i mostly do machine learning, computer vision, and signal processing for audio engineering.
ay don't shit on ece, i'm a python god. the only reason why i'm in this pleb department is because i was a physics undergrad and i didn't wanna stay in academia. i was shooting lasers at graphene, now i'm learning cryptography. respect the devs man. what the fuck does cofound even mean, every child in silicon valley knows the story of winklevoss business major "idea guys" trying to get coders to do all the work.
Listen up, BlockBurner coin funds any movie movie project, big/small, whatever. Now, Blockburner platform allows sponsored movies access to their outlet (Netflixish), subscription or special ,PPV, paid in BlockBurner token. Token holders essentially, en masse, create their own movie ecosystem. Same works for music. Also, tokens burned, much speculation, coin moons! Fuckin triple wammy!
No shade! I was asking about someone with dev skills and missed the fact you mentioned your technical background and was more of a "duh" comment lol. Much respect for devs.
I work in a technical field myself (aerospace) but not a dev. I'm also a musician/producer based in LA though. Played with a bunch of artists and cool shows- Many friends in the industry (yuck I even said that). Not sure how it could help the project exactly but I'm interested in helping if I can.
are you people retarded, it already exists:
SNGLS
medium.com
holy fuck that's awesome, i'm in LA as well. started producing hip hop a few years back, but only amateur stuff so far.
holy shit i'm kinda high rn but fuck it... should we get in touch?
Down. How do we do that on Jow Forums? Is there a place we can make burner profiles and dm each other our contact info? I'm a pleb at Jow Forums
i googled blockburner coin and nothing really came up other than hardware mining stuff.
well then. skimmed the whitepaper, yeah it seems close enough to what we're talking about. but it seems a bit over-engineered, could be simpler.
guess it already exists. still, i'd love to at least get your ig or something.
here's a temp address, email me at [email protected]
I made a Kik if you want to dm there: @cryptomusic
google bunny token...
Messaged.
ah i don't wanna download this, just email lol
Blockburner is my fuckin idea doot
Thought you were looking for ideas
Gonna need 50%
Will accept ETH
ah fuck i can't reply from the tempmailaddress, i'll hit you up on kik
Lol make a protonmail real quick that's what I did... ya fuck kik
ok this looks legit.
aite i have an 8am tmrw, gonna dip from this thread
you fucking madman
and thus, a friendship was formed.
Good thread. I did something good today.
shill
bunny token is a sad scam
yeah there's too many silhouettes of naked models. the nice website design got to me.
Messaged
yeah nice thread desu
replied. ok going to bed forreal this time.
>desu
i swear to god Jow Forums just autocorrected "nice thread desu" desu
t. b. h. to be honest. fuck this place.
chainlink lmao
Blockchain tech used to track eyeball movements and anal sphincter tension via mandatory entertainment viewing devices. Less ads, get paid in crypto for being a good goy while the content slowly chips away at your moral fibers. Free ice cream for tight buttholes though
it's called upfiring and it's a dumb idea. but good luck
Did I break another thread?
chainlink is terrible and destined for failure
dubs confirm
yikes. you shouldn't be playing shows if you don't have a fanbase. these artists will have a much better shot making money by focusing entirely on the music and putting it out everywhere via tunecore/distrokid.
SpankChain ffs
