How did the early adopters find out about bitcoin? I'm sure there are other things you can buy right now that are under the radar and will see massive gains in the future.

It was the only way to pay for drugs over the internet that was relitavly safe.

was a way to do something illegal "securely"

collect ideas in this thread what else is illegal but there could be a nice way to avoid it

I remember my housemate in college used bitcoin to buy molly. I shouldn't have been such a nerd and partied more. Would've paid off more than this engineering degree

It literelly fell on them.

I heared that you can buy pizza with bitcoins and I love pizza!

I found about it on Jow Forums back in the day in 2009 I think when I was trying to build my first computer

Use dat Req to buy dat shit homie.
Thank me later.

I knew about it in 2011 when private trackers accepted it as donations. I never bought any until december :_:

I read about it on Jow Forums back in the late 2000s when I used to browse /b/ at uni. Could have probably got shitloads from faucets back then and have made it already. Feel like a dumbass now.

early nerds were talking about a non government currency that couldn't be taken by the government, and would allow you to buy anything you want without being tracked.

pedophiles, cyber-dweebs, drug addicts and currency nerds all jerked off with glee over the concept and bought a bunch.

I heard about it when it was first coming out, but i couldn't figure out how to get the miner working, and i didnt have a paypal set up and i put it off forever.

Try hacker news or something. I read about bitcoin in 2010 on tech blogs like the ones hacker news links to.

i remember seeing btc on /b/ when it was less than 10usd

but i only entered this january.....

Hacker news never took bitcoin seriously though. (They still don't).

I remember reading about Ethereum there when it was released, but didn't pay much attention to it, largely because the overall sentiment was so negative.

Hacker is turned into a old man naysaying faggot crowd.
Those losers hate cryptocurrency because they cant wrap their heads around the fact that a non standford graduate raised more money then their meme-maketheworldabetterplace-app did.
Sore fucking losers, avoid hacker news.

There will be still a lot of developments in the crypto space, just follow those.

Most people are just to impatiend, they read about a new shit coin and fool themeself into thinking that is the Bitcoin 7.0 and will moon 1000x

Bitcoin was and still is a Black Swan event, a once in a century event that will affect the world monetary system.

So look into projects that related to Bitcoin.

Next 10years, there will be trillions made in this industry.

Hacker News, is basically Silicon Valley mentality.
Full of leftists that think the goverment should regulate every step in our life.

So they don't see the benefit of Bitcoin.

The VC community in SV however is quite libertarian.
So people like Peter Thiel, Tim Draper, Jack Dorsey, Naval Ravikant they are extremly bullish on bitcoin. Those are the people that have seen thousends of projects pitched to them and followed the rises and demises of many startups.

So back to the question where to find the next big ideas.
Just follow the big VC that I mentioned, read the twitter, listen to the podcasts. You will get a good sentiment into future technologies and opportunities.

Don't read anything on hacker news that is related to business or economics, those commie fags are to dumb.

i was underage and i was looking for an alternative payment system than paypal since my parents wouldn't let me open an account

If you think this mlm ponzi is going to replace fiat, you are dearly D E L U D E D. utterly deluded. With no understanding how the world actually functions. How the fuck are countries suppose to make loans to other countries with a deflationary currency? If Bitcoin replaces fiat, Jihan Wu will control the world. I don't want to live in a world run by chink miners.

I found out about Bitcoin in 2011, i dont remember how though.
I remember how i downloaded the wallet, and tried to mine BTC with my HD5850, but turned out it was already hard to do so on my single card, so i joined the btcguild pool and mined here.
I mined around 1 btc then withdrawn it, sold it all for a few bucks on mt.gox, then forgot about it completely because of the studying and shit.
Then i heard what mt.gox was hacked and it was all over the news with protesters on the street, people saying they lost all their money and shit.
I thought what after that bitcoin was done for, and i forgot about it completely.
Only in 2017 i heard about it from the news, and fomoed back.
I could be set for life if i didnt drop this thing.
Feels bad man

>How the fuck are countries suppose to make loans to other countries with a deflationary currency?
We have been doing that pretty much ever since we got of the Gold Standard. Hell, Oil and Gas is basically Saudi currency as their part of the petro-dollar and they tank the price of their commodity all the time to drive out competition.

My comment isn't for or against crypto replacing fiat but it shows that using a deflationary currency works for quite a while. One reason that these coins have caps is to make them, at least on paper, protection proofed against inflation, which deflates the value of savings.

Metaphorically, fiat might be the new "gold" and crypto the new "silver". Or Dollar to Petro.

So bitcoin?

Consistently heard about it on/g/ early on until this became the containment board for crypto. Sounded like a ponzi so I stayed out. It was also scary and way more scammy back then surprisingly. Remembered about the shit when doge started getting mined on all boards as a dumb joke. Mine a lot of doge for lols. Forgot about it. Logged in and sold when they were a penny. Put that money into tether and now I wait. I very much doubt there will ever be another 2017 but we will see more organic growth unless it goes belly up. Hopefully btc finds its home and sticks there so it can be an actual currency instead of volatile speculation. Otherwise it will never be used widely.

That time /b/ was not as shitty as today

I was still fucking kid at that time OP skins for csgo required payment with bitcoin or it was just the only option I had at the time, don't remember exactly desu, but I found out this year in september after BTC started to be in news a lot that I had 2,5 BTC left in some random web wallet that's how I ''got back'' into crypto

>The VC community in SV however is quite libertarian.

Who is this? What websites/twitter accounts?

people were shilling it on Jow Forums in 2011 but it was a joke.

10k buttcoins for a pizza, wow amazing. in retrospect, the dogecoin memes were the signal it was real.

Early 2012 in TV show called good wife i watched with my girlfriend. There were multiple episodes about a nerd who got rich with Bitcoin.

By the end of 2013 it was all over the TV news and reddit, you must have actively ignoring it to not knew it by then.

I heard about it on Jow Forums in like 2010.

Anyone who was "awake" the the NWO agenda knew about it. That was before the spathetic masses arrived and started begging the banker masters for regulation.

I wonder which one of this you fall under

I found out about btc in 2011 from the Silk Road. I bought some btc off local Bitcoins. Com bought drugs with it. A year later I broke the laptop and threw it away with out thinkin. I only started investing in 2015. Still time for everyone to make it, buy the fuckin dip! I sadly have not got major gains as I just bought btc and held, I was not buying regularly. Fast forward to this current dip. I put all of my saving in, yes all.
