The entirety of the last century was essentially spent getting rid of all that defined Germany. Our culture is dead. We are one of the most americanised countries in the world. That which is left, what we call culture, is no more than an annual regional festival where everyone gets drunk and any other cultural practices are only remembered by the elderly who are dying off.
Our language is dead. It is so filled with anglicisms you'd think it was never a complete language of its own. The modern German youth doesn't possess any more vocabulary than the absolute basics.
And it's not like those who you could call patriotic or nationalist are any better. Half of them are Neo-Nazis, not realising that the Nazis did their best to replace Germany with a centralised and totalitarian state in the hands of an Austrian with an inferiority complex and that they are one of the groups most responsible for the death of our country.
Then there are the modern patriots. They are patriotic without giving any attention to what actually makes our country unique. They will cheer for Germany in football games and such and they will praise things like our democracy and the Rechtsstaat, which is no more than empty politician drivel, one of the most soulless forms of communication.
German patriotism expresses itself only in paying attention to our military past. Whilst this is actually extremely important to German identity imo, it cannot be brought back. Prussia is gone and cannot be brought back.

I don't think Germany has anything to do with Germanicness in itself. It is one of the Germanic nations for sure, but that's just a common origin from more than 2000 years ago plus a language family. Germany is larger than Scandinavia both in population and culture and can stand on its own. So I don't care about the notion of being Germanic. One has also to take into account that German genes are not only Germanic, but also Slavic and Celtic. Germany is a thousand years old and our ties to our ancestors during Roman times are thin.
I do not like the association of Germany with race, as it is a delusion. This does not mean that just anybody can become German of course, and it is quite obvious that being German in most cases has ties to being of "German blood". However, there are also people like the Hugenottes, who came from France and become Germans. And I would also claim with full confidence that people like the loyal Askari have a stronger claim to being German than many modern descendants of Germans. youtube.com

If you're anything like me, you probably like to learn about your countries history and listen to old/folk music. But those things are completely detached from the modern Federal Republic, and interest in them is dying out. Truth is, the death of Germany began either in 1806, 1918 or 1933, but it is certain that it began.

How will that help? Immigrants wouldn't be a problem if the people were a strong enough cultural force to make them adapt. They are not interested in that however, and so the immigrants will not adapt as the Germans are not resilient enough. We brought this upon ourselves.
