After 3 years on /fr/ I'd say it's both a shithole and one of the best generals on this board

Gamebryo offers accessible modability, and all of the good things which define TES, including open worlds full of interactive, non-static items with physics (which other series struggle with). If Bethesda changed engines it would kill mods and make their games even worse. Anybody who says they want an engine change is crazy, it's purely /v/ finding dumb things to complain about. It has its drawbacks but there isn't any other engine which could handle an Elder Scrolls game which would even be recognizable as an Elder Scrolls game, and the ease at which people are able to master it and create their own content is unparalleled. Bethesda releasing shit games is entirely Bethesda's fault.

you don't even have to do this, Skyrim has no FPS cap by default. Players usually add them themselves because going above 60 FPS causes physics bugs.

if you modded you'd know it's a godsend. I only have limited experience with it because I don't have infinite time to sink into modding seven year old games anymore, but it's very useful and easy to get your head around. Lack of features from previous games, poor animations, bad writing, ugly characters, and boring cliched story are the real problems with Skyrim, and Gamebryo has nothing to do with them.

no, Bethesda just didn't bugtest the game properly because it was developed between 2006 and 2011 for last gen consoles and they did a horrible job of porting it to PC. If I recall correctly those issues were fixed in Fallout 4.
