Its popular among nouveau rich or people just wanting to try a bunch of super cars before buying one. With the rise of car renting services like "turo" or whatever other ones exist, you can always just rent a specific car for a day or so. I know one of the big car rental services, maybe hertz or one of the others, actually has a super car rental service nowadays as well to compete with the others.
