Umayyads ruled from Iberia longer than they did rule from Damascus. So they had more time to invest in Iberia and achieve more. And ruling Iberia mean ruling smaller land and population. Which was more doable than ruling land from India to Portugal. So rather than trying to hold on the empire like before, they could just rule a kingdom and invest in it, as they don't have to invest in keeping it together as much as keeping an empire together.

The eastern roman empire would have fallen way earlier than in our timeline. Not sure if that would result in another crusade or not. The mediterranean sea would be dominated by muslims. Orthodox christianity would not be as prevalent as it is in our timeline. Russia would not become Orthodox Christian. Russia might become either muslim or catholic. Orthodox christianity might slowly die (or become a minority religion) in the places that it existed in, particularly in Europe. The muslim conquest of the Balkan would start centuries earlier. Parts of the Balkan might become muslim, which would later on result in muslim empires and kingdoms that will triumph at times and lose at times. Europe would be catholic. So it is possible that a reconquesta would start in the Balkan and succeed. But it is also possible that the muslim kingdoms/empires in the Balkan conquer lots of parts of Europe instead, and might islamsise lots of it.
