The thing is the populace has a differing opinion on Nato as the sitting government. We'll have to see how opposition handles itself in the next election. The NATO vote has always being a close one being usually about 50/60 against.

While I agree the Russian forces are in a particular bad shape specially if you compare the us navy to the Russian one I don’t see the euros alone beating it, just stopping it maybe, somewhere in Poland or Germany. Russians always seem to have little regard for the lives of their soldiers and the US will have to move properly before they can beat Russia back into Russia, and then a stagnation
And tho Russia has literally infinite resources I don’t think they can afford a war and the US relies on Europe needing money for rebuilding after major wars so the US can afford that attrition war

It wouldn't do much for the overall strength of NATO, since that's still 90% based on America's huge armed forces.
I say Finland is a de facto member because Finland regularly trains with NATO troops, has equipment that's largely NATO-compliant and buys most of its weapon systems from NATO members. The only thing that's missing is Finland being able to invoke Article V.
