What the hell, no. We are not in a war with any other country. The soldiers here are professionals who choose to be soldiers by vocation, not by obligation.

Don't think any western country sends conscripts to war.

Everyone between 17 and 45, both male and female, can get drafted at any time.

But since the cold war ended when people who become 17 get a letter that they don't have to appear yet, until the government needs them.

We did in our last war with Indonesia.

The professional military did attack missions. Conscripts were on patrol and guard duty.

But they train to go to war. In case of war in two or three months they would be on the battlefield.

1. falling for propaganda
2. For the benefits their recruiters promised them
3. A lot of them join because either they're interested , patriotic or just looking for adventure & experience.

I heard that in america the army will pay your uni degree once you served the required time and this is big motivation for (poor) people to enlist.
