I am a white passing Latino. I can be anything from Indian to Afghani to Palestinian to Turk. It has given me a massive racial complex as I am white in my own country but brown literally anywhere else.

Lmao, are those people considered white in Latin America?
Oliver Foster
The lighter skinned ones are. My country's standards are so low, that I am called white despite the fact that no other country would accept that. This is why there are so many brown people on pol

Are Guatemalan and Mexicans the same genetically?
Caleb Sanders
In general yes, with several caveats. Guatemala has far more natives (over 50% of the population) and fewer people of European descent. Mexico has the most blended (mestizo) population in all of Latin America, while still maintaining about 1/5 as white and a little less as pure native. Mexico had far more European immigrants, although most of them seceded and became Texas or California.

Interesting. What about other central american countries? Are you guys similar to each other? El Salvador, Honduras, etc.
Justin James
>we're now associated with shitskins Wow
James Ortiz
We used to be the same country, but there are some differences. The Northern countries (Guatemala) had more natives (the densest precolombian population was in mesoamerica) while the southern ones had fewer, although more afro carribean influences. Guatemala is 50% native while Costa Rica is almost all mestizo and more white. This meant that the north was more rich, racist and elitist, while the other countries tended to have greater unity. Other than that they are very similar.

I get Irish, "Viking", Russian and Polish a lot. I'm English, French, and Ojibwa. Apparently the genes that were supposed to make my skin red found their way to my hair.

>Who else here racially ambiguous? Post what you're mistaken for then your actual race. I'm part aboriginal but I've never been mistaken for another race.

i was mistaken as a brazillian, probably the blacks or pardo because i'm brown with jewish hair and nose
People often come up to me and say "as-salāmu ʿalaykum." It's tiring. Being mistaken for the first three is obviously very understandable, but I don't understand how I could look North African.
